- DavidMay 12, 2024Unfit for staying overnight
There is no safe parking at all. Nowhere to take your dog out, especially at night. The room was dirty (stains on the wall by the door). There was no on-site restaurant as advertised. They would not refund our money so we left.
- BethSep 19, 2023Great historical hotel
We loved this hotel! We met Alisha who was the front desk receptionist and she told us stories of famous guests and also some possible ghost sightings!! So interesting!
- EricSep 12, 2023Great historic atmosphere
Dog friendly. Plaza/park across the street. Rooms are clean but dated.
- JesseNov 14, 2022Ehhhhh
They were super sweet but the place was a little on the beat up side. Not gross, but certainly in need of some TLC. Very central and good location. No other problems, just a bit funky.
- TinaOct 19, 2022Excellent restoration of vintage hotel
Large and comfortable room with great views of downtown Cheyenne historic areas. Lots of historic exhibits in the hotel and adjacent areas.

If you like something a little different, stay at this historic hotel. There is green space across the street and it is near dog friendly restaurants and across the street from the old train station. Remember it is an old restored hotel so it has a few quirks. We upgraded to a larger room and it was very spacious. The reason for 4 bones is no breakfast (but there is dog friendly in the old station) and parking was on the street.

It was the best option for what we needed which was one night in downtown Cheyenne. It is in the heart of downtown. The hotel is very unique western older vibe. That goes without saying there is only one outlet in the room. There also isn’t a good place to take your dog to the bathroom other than across the street.

Staff were friendly and it was close to everything we wanted to do. The only problem was that the restaurant was closed and there was no coffee.
- DarrinOct 14, 2020Historic Plains Hotel
I want to start off by saying that the staff was INCREDIBLE. Friendly, polite, helpful and I had zero issues with them. The problem I had was the utter lack of cleanliness and things in general. There was what appeared to be mold in the grout of the shower tiles, some unknown black colored substance next to the drain and several other unclean areas. The hallway on the 4th floor STUNK of cigarette smoke and the elevator smelled like an elderly man's overwhelming cologne. The window A/C unit was old, outdated and half the words written on the various buttons were rubbed off. Lighting was very dim and they used a multi-outlet extension cord to plug in a desk lamp, small (>3 cubic foot) fridge, a microwave and 1 or 2 other items. I feel that constituted a fire hazard with that many things plugged into an outlet of that age. The building was apparently built in 1911 and they have tried to keep it as original as possible.
Also, there is a complete lack of parking for the hotel. They offer you a map with "directions" to 3 or 4 areas you can park. None of which are on or what I would consider close to the hotel itself. They are down alleys, across 2+ streets and there is ZERO protection or even the illusion of a safe place to leave your vehicle.
While myself and my dog were welcomed there, I cannot imagine I will ever go back.
- DanielleDec 28, 2019Wonderful hotel experience
This hotel is beautiful & everyone was extremely friendly to our German Shepard. We loved the historic details and the “quirks” other reviewers complained about. We were stranded in Cheyenne due to car trouble and this hotel helped to make a bad situation enjoyable. Thank you!

The room was small. Overall, it what was expected.
