My dogs love Camp Bow Wow

I usually only write reviews when something amazing or seriously lacking happens, but I feel Camp Bow Wow has done something amazing just for the staff on site!!

Each time I have to board my dogs (3 Huskies) 2 adult, 1 puppy they come back to me in such good shape, acting like they were given the love and care they receive when at home. I have never felt more secure to have anyone else care for my dogs especially when out of the country! Each time I ask my dogs if they want to go "Play" they know I'm taking them to Camp Bow Wow for daycare and my male Husky will sit and howl and bark until I leash him and put him in the car, I am going to try and record it because it shows how much he loves it there.

Krista and the other staff have helped me when I've had to call them with no notice due to an emergency and took care of my babies. Every member of the staff are truly incredible and a joy to work with. They make drop off and pick up go so smoothly as they get them from your car and return them to your car, you just call when you pull up.

If you want a place that treats your pups as their own, I think you should give them a chance!! They also check out each dog before accepting them to ensure that the behavior jives with the collective. Also, they have webcams in all of the yards to watch your dog. Give them a try, we've used them for years!!!

    A Great Place!

Our boxer does not get boarded as she usually goes with us, or stays with family. However, we wanted to visit Fort Sumter in Charleston, South Carolina does not allow dogs. We found Camp Bow WOW on Bring Fido, and we were thrilled with this kennel. Our boxer was assessed, passed and we made the arrangements. She had a blast! She also had her ears cleaned, nails done and a bath before we picked her up. Staff is wonderful, and was verified y patient with me when I called for updates. Really great place, will use when we are in Myrtle Beach!

    Do NOT recommend

I'll start with I have used countless doggy daycares from my home town to several vacation spots. So, I'm not new to the practices. To start, I did much research and filled out all paperwork prior to my visit. Second, upon arriving I was told that the initial interview process would not be free, but would be $90. then she reduced it to $21. I said fine and proceeded on to explain that my dog is initial timid as we've only had him a couple of months and he was rescued from a less than stellar situation. At this point I felt everything was on track, but for the next almost 2 hours of my dogs interview process he was placed in a room by himself, this I observed through the wonderful cameras that are provided, my dog then was taken to a room with approximately 6 - 8 other dogs of his size, he is 18 lbs, at which time someone sat with the dogs for 10 - 15 minutes and left. I continued to watch as dogs peed on the floor and humped other dog etc. All of this interaction for approximately 2 hours and not another person came in to check on the smaller dogs, I will say I did check other cameras and there was a person in with the larger dogs the entire time. I watched as my dog searched out a human for comforter to find none. I finally went to pick my dog up hours early because he just layed on the floor terrified and no TLC as they claim. Once I got there to pick my dog up the girl at the counter proceed to get a big smile on her face and tell me how great of a time he had, I then explained to her I had spent nearly the last 4 hours watching and he indeed didn't have a great time. Her smile immediately changed and I ask if I could please get my dog and please cancel any further appointments. The reason I felt 2 stars was appropriate is because at least the big dogs had supervision. The reason for the only review I've ever done is so people are informed and can make an informed decision on what is best for their dog. Just know no one will be supervising your smaller dogs. I'd also like to add that I've tried placing an honest review on there page 2 times and it has never showed up, hence why they have such a high star rating.

    Never Ever Again

We took our golden retrievers to Camp Bow Wow in Myrtle Beach a few years ago. We typically take them to Benjis Bed & Breakfast, but a family member had heard great things about CBW, so we decided to try it out. Initially, we were optimistic. The area was clean, shaded, and well circulated in terms of air flow. The staff was kind and understanding that our dogs were a little older (8 and 10), with the exception of my sisters dog (1 1/2) who would also be staying at CBW, so being in large, active groups wasnt best for the two older pups--they needed smaller groups to play in, access to cool areas, and more "nap time." We also asked the staff to keep our 3 dogs together at all times due to separation anxiety from each other. After drop off, we left town for a few days. I remember checking the web cams and being absolutely horrified. Our dogs were in a small pen with (at one point) 20 other large dogs. There had to be some sort of violation with how many animals were stuffed into that pen. Our oldest as pinned against one wall of the pen while others ran around and stepped on her and none of the dogs had access to water. If they were in a northern state where it was a bit cooler, it MIGHT have been okay (for a short period of time), but when it is 100+ degrees, animals (human or other) need to drink! When we got home, that is when the REAL fun began. Within a week, all 3 of our dogs were seriously ill. At first we thought they were just tired from camp and gave them time to come around. Days later, they were still ill. Vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargic. No interest in sating and minimally drinking. We took them to the vets and while we could not confirm due to the timing of the tests done, the vet was highly convinced that they all had canine influenza. Our youngest and middle pups were able to recover in a decent amount time with antibiotics, but our oldest had a much harder time. She was kept overnight due to her condition and needed IV fluids and antibiotics. We were to the point where we almost had to make "the decision"...the one NO puppy parent wants to ever have to make. She nade a sudden turn around and managed to overcome her illness, which I still thoroughly believe all three contracted from Camp Bow Wow. I will never ever take my dogs back or to any CBW facility and risk my dogs lives.

Camp Bow Wow has been a godsend

We moved to SC and went from a home to an apartment. Camp Bow Wow has allowed my pups to have dog time and time to just run. The staff is just wonderful. They really love the dogs. I was so touched when we lost one of our puppies. The staff cried and sent us a sympathy card and flowers. They are open daily and that is a big plus. My puppy comes home happy and tired!

Friendly, clean, and my dog loves them

We recently moved to Myrtle Beach and our Chihuahua, Bosley, needed a new place to play. He had become accustomed to a pet hotel in Raleigh, and it's the only one he had ever known. He tends to be territorial, so I wasn't sure how he would take to a new place.

When I found Camp Bow Wow, I was impressed that they were on our new vet's speed dial (a good endorsement!), and they seemed to be the favorite among dog owners in this area. It's been a few months now, and Bosley just LOVES going to camp. I can always tell he's had a good day at camp by how he comes out head and tail high and out of breath.

The folks at Camp Bow Wow really do a good job to keep him playing and keep him busy. They don't let him just sit and watch the other dogs (which he's inclined to do!).

Thanks, keep up the good work!

    Dog Mom

Camp Bow Wow is the best of the best. Their entire staff is so friendly and accommodating. They treat me and my pups like family and (finally!) I've found a place where I never if my babies are taken care of or happy. I'd never bring them anywhere else!!
