Harley was under the care of The Dog House boarding facility in Odessa FL this past weekend. Sunday morning we received a call stating that she “escaped” and was hit by a car, no other information was given. Although the facility took her to the ER- the Dog House refuses to take any responsibility or help pay for any medical bills. During a time of tragedy the owner of the facility thought it was appropriate to bring up the contract that was signed prior to Harley’s boarding. She mentioned Harley “suffers from anxiety” and “I should’ve never took her in” then proceeded to hang up as we demanded more answers (probably realizing Harley could have used more attention from the trainers).
This was Harley’s second time staying at the Dog House, a place that claims to be “definitely all about the dogs”, but they displayed pure NEGLIGENCE with ZERO remorse for our 1.5 year old mini Aussie who almost died under their care.
My reason for this post is to not only have justice for Harley but ensure that every Tampa dog owner stays FAR AWAY from this facility. I hope this serves as a wake up call for you all to research the ins & out of these dog boarding facilities, ask all the questions, make sure they are not taking more than they can handle, etc. because I never thought this would happen to our family and my sweet furbaby. Harley is my tough little miracle fur baby. She is staying strong throughout all the treatments and is under 24 hour care. Tomorrow she will undergo reconstruction and double hip surgery. We’re hoping to have her back at home within the next week or two but she has a long road of recovery ahead of her ❤️🩹🙏🏼🐕🦺 we are lucky she is alive and we are so thankful for everyone’s thoughts, prayers and kind words. We can use your support in spreading the word in hopes to save other pups from the trauma and pain Harley is feeling.
- CallanSep 30, 2021Unprofessional, negligent and a complete lack of empathy
DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE! If you genuinely love your dog please, for their sake, don’t consider this place. I’m sure most of the staff have great intentions but the management/ownership is a nightmare. The lack of empathy that they have exhibited is honestly really sad. These people only care about profiting off of dog owners who are just trying to do the right thing by seeking acceptable care. Absolutely disgusted.
- DianneJan 25, 2019Simply the BEST Daycare and Boarding facility in our Lutz/Odessa area
My dog, Teddy , has been part of The Dog House family for 4 years now and is always ecstatic to be there. The Owner, Jamie and her staff are simply the most professional and attentive that I have had the pleasure to meet. The facility is open and very large, offering many unique features to enhance every dogs visit. Big (BIG!) dogs and little dogs each have their own play/stay space, allowing for sun, shade, water features, lots of grass to play/run in as well as dirt to dig in!! Just the perfect place for your dog to feel safe and at home.
The Dog House provides safe and fun exercise daily, while reducing bad behaviors at home. Jamie and her professional staff encourage good social skills for dogs in their care and boarding while providing lots of stimulation and fun activities during their stay.
Simply, the BEST. - JamieMore than a year agoWrong
For the review Above This. I'm sorry that you weren't informed a hundred percent although it is all over our websites and everywhere else that this is a high energy facility and is not recommended for dogs with injuries or previous injuries. I did however end up taking your dogs which you did not mention then 20 minutes later you came back and said you didn't feel comfortable leaving them. Funny how I did take your dogs for 2 weeks
