I've been an advocate with social justice and family service nonprofits for most of my working life. Years ago, I cared for a co-workers’ anxious pets while she traveled. She began recommending me to friends. Before I knew it, I had a home/pet-sitting business. I enjoyed it so much that I did it for seven years in addition to my regular work.
I’ve now stepped away from nonprofit work to focus on two of my other healing passions: reiki and essential oils. I feel privileged to be able to offer their benefits to my clients as a complement to my pet care services.
What is Reiki:
The word "Reiki" comes from two Japanese characters: "Rei," meaning "universal soul," and "Ki," meaning "energy"—thus "universal life force energy." Reiki is a non-invasive healing technique that calms the nervous system and brings deep relaxation and revitalization.
Reiki is ideal for animals because it is gentle, noninvasive and doesn’t require physical contact, which means it can be done on almost any pet. It doesn’t cause stress, discomfort, or pain and yet yields powerful results. Animals respond intuitively to Reiki’s power to support the healing of emotional, behavioral, and physical illnesses and injuries.
Why Essential Oils:
Essential oils for your pets may seem strange, but can be a sensible, and inexpensive, way to help pets be healthy and happy. Essential oils can be used in addition to, or instead of, Reiki to enhance relaxation and reduce stress.
