We had a wonderful relaxing time here with our Goldendoodle. The waiter brought water and was very accommodating to us as we searched for the best spot to sit with our pup, so he had space to lay. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was fun and everyone was really friendly. We will go back.

We’ve taken both our dogs here several times. Seating in the Biergarten, which is covered. Staff always asks if our dogs need water bowls. They do note that aggressive dogs will be asked to leave. Never had a problem, even when our dogs get excited at seeing other dogs there. Food is always good.

Came here around 1 pm on a monday with our mini-poodle, thinking it was dog-friendly. We were the only people on the patio except another couple with a dog far from us. The staff all whispered "they have a dog" and raised their eyebrows as we walked up.
Our dog was leashed, and at first my daughter held our dog in her lap, but we were quickly told by a a manager she has to be on the ground. No problem, we put her on the ground.
Our dog barked twice at the other dog when she saw him, like a friendly hello, not aggressively. Before we even got our drinks we were promptly kicked out!
"Unfortunately, we're not going to be able to allow you to stay since your dog is barking." She barked twice. It was humiliating for my daughter, and plenty of reviews mention the barking dogs, so I guess they just didn't like the look of us. And if they have rules for the dogs they need to post them clearly to avoid embarrassing people unnecessarily.
In most restaurants I'd totally understand, but a supposedly dog friendly place has a ZERO-tolerance for barking policy? This is a gentle mini-poodle, not a pit-bull.
So, unless you drug your dog so that it not longer barks a SINGLE time while you're there, you and your dog better avoid the Auslander. Yes, even on a Monday at 1pm, when you're the only people on the patio, save for another couple with a dog.

First thing out of their mouth “if your dog barks we’ll ask you to leave”. Food and drinks are overpriced for what they serve. Three beers run almost $30 and they’re domestic.

I was so excited to take my German friend to a German town and have German food at a “dog friendly” restaurant but we were so let down. Our waiter was kind but my German friend with a little dachshund was immediately reprimanded for holding her little dog on her lap in this busy place. Every time a staff member passed by our table they literally stood on top of us glaring down to ensure I wasn’t sneaking my sweet girl a french fry. After about four rounds of those looks and obvious scrutiny my friend and I asked asked for the check as there was nothing pleasurable about this experience. If you want average food and disrespectful service this is the place for you. But if between you, you have over 50 years of combined military service and two emotional support dogs, and you want good food, I recommend you pass this one up.

The food was good, the patio seat we got was in the sun in the back though. We were able to order a hamburger patty for our dog.
- LorenAug 4, 2020Very Dog Friendly
This is a very dog friendly place, we were one of three tables that had a dog. They brought water for the dogs right away, and our waitress was very friendly and loving to them.
the indoor/outdoor patio seating area is on a bed of small rocks which is great for pets.
Food was good, was brought out very quick. - TheJul 4, 2020Great Place
No problems bringing our puppy. (And the food was great!)

If you’re looking for a great experience in the heart of the action, Auslander is your ticket. The covered Biergarten, with fans, is great for a long lazy lunch. Megan, Clark and Jenny will take wonderful care of you along with your fur baby. It does get a little crazy on the weekends, so I recommend checking in on Yelp, just note you have a pup.

There were several doggies there. Staff was very friendly but the food was average

Our baby poodle mix loved the farmer’s platter and rib eye as much as we did! Great service and ambience.
- HarrisonJul 31, 2019Great for dogs!!
Brought us right through the place to a fully covered and fanned outdoor patio. It was 98+ and the dogs were cool in the shade and well hydrated. Staff seemed to love dogs!!
- DaniJan 27, 2019Overwhelmingly Average Food
We chose this restaurant based on reviews—specifically photos included in reviews on this app. Maybe we just expected too much but we were heavily disappointed when we received our aggressively average meal. On top of that the patio area we were seated in was very cramped— not comfortable at all to have a large dog in. I spent most of my mealtime making sure my pup was out of the way of other diners. One couple actually requested a new seat because we had a dog so close. The patio was also covered in gravel/pebbles that my dog wouldn’t lay down in—probably not an issue for most but it was just another downside for us. I would definitely not go back.
2 bones for the food and atmosphere... the only reason our review has 3 is because the service was great. Our waiter was awesome and we really appreciated his service!

I was a little skeptical since I didn’t see one dog walking around Fredericksburg. Have always loved the food here, and was so thankful when it was on the “Bring Fido” app. They were very welcoming even for my Great Dane puppy. It was almost 100 degrees the day we went but the patio was pleasant and shade and fans made it bearable. As always, the food was delicious!

We came because of the reviews and we were seated outside. A lady who said she hates dogs told my friend she will not tolerate us sitting next to her. We asked to move but the manager came and told them that they are dog friendly and she is sitting in the only place the dogs are allowed and she can move if she doesn’t like it. He even came back and apologized to us. It’s so nice to have a place who stands up for the dog lovers that come!

After seating, water for dog 🐶. Greatly appreciated on a hot day!

This was the first time my wife and I traveled with our mutt, Bo Butters, who is a very well behaved Boston Terrier. The staff is very pet friendly and even brought Bo a drink of cool water. Bonus...the human service is good and food is even better. Thanks!
