- SuellenSep 18, 2023So nice, we tried it twice!
We brought our Alaskan Malamute to breakfast at Cafe This Way and were greeted warmly by all the staff. He is a big boy! The first day, we ate in their large outdoor eating area as it was a clear morning, We received a water bowl and there were probably 5 other dogs at breakfast. We enjoyed our meal. My husband liked his big breakfast and I really liked my lobster benedict. The second day was misty. We sat on the patio and put up the umbrella for a little coverage. There were two other dogs on the patio. Our server was very attentive and we again enjoyed our breakfasts. The greeter and waiters were all very polite and attentive.

Food was great! Tables were spaced out pretty well which was ideal for the dogs. Server brought out water bowls and dog bones for the dogs. Hostess and Servers were so nice and sweet to our dogs.
- JenniferJul 9, 2021GREAT food and very dog friendly
We had dinner here last night. It wasn't crowded. We were seated on the enclosed heated patio. They brought our dog water and treats. The food was FANTASTIC and creative. Best meal in Bar Harbor this week. We also had breakfast there this morning. Food and service again phenomenal but there was a bit of a wait. It seems this place is more popular for breakfast than dinner, which makes it a great place for dinner due to lack of the lines we had at other places. Don't miss!

Great food. Great local. Nick is terrific!
- KileyJun 13, 2021AMAZING!
It was so good that we ate here twice for breakfast. Both times we were sat outside almost immediately and fresh water was brought out to our girl. The one time, the waiter even asked if she could have some bacon
- FredSep 25, 2019Great Experience!
We stopped in for breakfast with Jake, our 100 pound golden retriever/great Pyrenees mix, and we had a great experience. The service was friendly, food delicious and the first thing that was offered to us was a bowl of water for Jake. A !!
- KirstenSep 21, 2019Super dog friendly patio.
I'm sad to see the negative reviews, as we had a great experience here. The server was attentive to us and our dogs and brought out a water bowl with our coffee. The space is open enough to let the dogs have a little room to lie down. The food was great. We had the breakfast sandwich, an omelette and a single blueberry pancake.
- MargoSep 6, 2019Was wonderful, now so so
We've been coming here for years, for breakfast with our 2 Samoyeds. They used to have a covered porch with heat lamps so you could enjoy your meal. The covered porch is no longer. They put us outside without heat lamps. The weather was in the low 50's & cloudy - generally icky. My oatmeal was gluey. My husband thought his eggs, toast & home fries were ok. We probably won't be back.
- RickOct 18, 201830 Degrees Out And The Waiter Suggested We Leave The Dog In The Car
This place has a nice enclosed porch with heater perfect for someone with dogs who would like to dine out on a cold morning. Unfortunately the waiter was not that accommodating and suggested we leave our dog in the car because he was cold. We asked him “would you like to sit outside in the car” and he just looked at us blankly. We got up and left.
- JeremyJul 14, 2018Good friendly, friendly service
Had the smoked trout omelette, delicious! My pup and I we're greeted with a smile. They immediately brought out a water bowl and even snuck him a piece of bacon (after asking if it was ok). The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the outdoor seating is tight. Out of respect for other patrons, not the best place for big dogs or dogs that need to walk around.. My guy is 45lb and it was fine.
- KristinMore than a year agoGood food, okay for dogs
Besides the hostess looking at us like we had three heads when we came in with our dog, everyone was very nice and welcoming. The food was very good, we'd come again!

This is a good sit down breakfast place in Bar Harbor.
It's dog friendly in their outdoor patio. It's great that they allow dogs, but I didn't feel the friendliness. I felt that they were annoyed we brought our dog. Now the outdoor seating seems great for little dogs. However, our guy is a big golden retriever. Not as comfortable for him and he, no matter what we did, seemed awfully close to the other tables. Good thing they were good sports.
I had the Oatmeal and fruit cup. I also enjoyed a espresso, decaf. My husband had the mc breakfast sandwich with sausage. He love it. It came with potatoes but some of the larger chunks weren't completely cooked.
The actual restaurant was cute. Pretty flowers and nicely decorated.
Good price. Service was good. Nice little place off the street.
- ErinMore than a year agoVery dog friendly!
My husband and I are visiting with our young Giant Schnauzer. He's well behaved but this is his very first vacation. We first tried Two Cats for breakfast and were pointed to a rickety metal table and chairs in the middle of the lawn near the street. Being October and overcast it was pretty chilly and although we dressed in many layers knowing we'd be outside with the dog, we were hoping for something better. The staff at Cafe This Way were very warm and welcoming to the three of us. Breakfast at this quaint cafe was very good. We were seated in an enclosed porch with a heater and were very comfortably out of the wind and chill. I had french toast, my husband the blueberry pancakes. Breakfast was good- not out of this world but overall earned 5 bones for the experience. The menu had some different things to try so we will be back!
