Reviews
Visitors generally enjoy the fun, dog-friendly atmosphere at Yard Bar, with its spacious dog park, attentive staff, and local Austin feel. They appreciate the bar's emphasis on dog safety, such as the requirement for dogs to be spayed/neutered, though some find this policy too restrictive.

I’ve never heard of a restaurant for dogs with a COVER FEE. Every dog park restaurant I’ve ever been to was FREE to enter. You’re charging us for food and drink, isn’t that enough?

I love this place. They do have some rules but it is all for dog safety. Love that they do not allow unaltered dogs in as that can cause some sticky situations. The outside staff does such a good job keeping play safe and the owners are a great help as they should be. Fun atmosphere and great cocktails. Love the local Austin feel.

couldn’t bring my dogs because they aren’t neutered. one of them is my service dog and the other is my show dog.
- MelissaFeb 11, 2022Lots of Fun
Yard Bar has a big space for dogs to play and plenty of picnic tables for their folks to chill and sip a beer. The bark patrol attendants were always watching out for the dogs.
- MeridithApr 27, 2021Amazing!
Good food and a great place. Super friendly, the kind of Austin hospitality that makes Austin such a unique town.
It is a 100% outdoor venue which allows true social distancing, delicious drinks and food. The Yard Bar seems to be taking COVID seriously, which is refreshing.
The dog park is a VERY well monitored dog park. The Bark Patrol are constantly circulating ensuring your pup is engaged in positive play.
My dog was struggling with socialization. The Bark Patrol helped me to acclimate him. I could not have done it without them.
Plus, if you can work remotely, they have lightening fast Wi-Fi and lots of great shade.
I HIGHLY recommend checking them out. - LibbyMar 9, 2021Awesome!
wonder where you can take your pup, yourself a d a friend safely during covid (or any other time)?! here! Super reasonably priced drinks, great pub food, and bites for our furry friends! It can be a little chaotic when busy, but still well managed every time we’ve been there. love, love, love!
- JimmyDec 26, 2020Complete Chaos
Absolute chaos here. They had one park attendant and writhing 5 minutes, there were three dog fights. Since there are so few yard attendants, it’s up to whether owners are responsible or not; owner of a dog that very literally bit and mounted our dog didn’t care and cussed *me* out when I was pissed that he didn’t get up to handle his dog. We immediately left and while we were walking to the parking lot there was yet another dog fight of over 10 dogs. Absolute insanity that relies on owners to maintain the peace and when they don’t, dogs just get bit. Can’t recommend against this place enough.
- AdamOct 26, 2019Great Environment
Not a place meant for unaltered dogs. They have that policy for a reason and it works. Great time!
- ClaireAug 7, 2019Great place to hang out with your pup!
This bar is great with friendly staff that make sure the dogs are getting along. They carry local drafts on tap and hold events multiple times a month. I appreciate that they require up to date shots and for the dogs to be spayed/neutered. This keeps everyone safe and happy.
- PoiseJun 30, 2019We couldn’t even go in
Won’t allow our unaltered trained dogs. Just because your dog isn’t altered doesn’t mean it’s aggressive. Also we have puppies too young to be altered. Ridiculous. One star.
- MollyJun 8, 2019Perfect Spot
Visited Austin for the day and this place was perfect! Everyone was very friendly and the beer was great!
- HoneyOct 26, 2018Great Place To Chill And Have A Beer While Your Pup Plays.
Love this place. Wish it was closer to me - I live down south. Costs $5.50 to get in or you can buy a monthly pass for $25. If I lived closer I’d totally do this. The food is good and the staff is friendly.
- KelseyMore than a year agoPerfect spot for a beer after work with your fur baby
Frequent YB at least three times a week, the $25 a month membership is worth it to go literally any day, any time, all month long. The dogs get the exercise they need especially if you live in an apartment and it's not a bad spot to relax with friends and have a nice beer after work. Or even come to do work from home, school work, etc. during the day thanks to the free wi-fi. Definitely a favorite past time in our home.
