    Great Park for Dogs

Lovely place for a stroll, or for sitting on a park bench, watching people and the world go by! There is an actual dog park too - the whole thing is a perfect spot on a sunny day!

    Great park!

Unfortunately signs say it will become membership only. Cost to out of parish residents will be $75/year. This is disappointing as my dogs enjoy going there. but only being able to go 3-4 times a year that is way too much.

    Excellent, HUGE Dog Park

Have only been able to come to this park during peak hours (early evening after worK) and it has been outstanding! Large in size, separate space for small and large dogs and the large dog area is huge and has a walking path around it! Always well stocked with bags, has an enclosed dog washing station with drain and is a small part of an overall excellent park system. Would recommend at any time if dog is social.

    Spacious

Very large park with lots of grass. Only negative is there were a LOT of mud puddles where the dog got dirty. There is a hose to rinse her out but still didn’t get all the dirt off.

Scenic park with lots of trees and shade

This park is very large, lots of lush grass, and trees (shade), and mud pits! The walking trail around the perimeter of the park had lots of benches, and bag stations. The dog wash station was one of the better ones! (Was enclosed so the pup couldn't escape and had a drain). There is a separate enclosed area for small pups and is a decent size. The only human toilet was located a few hundred yards away at the playground area...wish it was closer.

VERY nice for a free park

This is a spacious dog park with a separate area for small dogs. There is one fountain near the entrance but there are also tubs that owners usually fill with water sitting out. There is a hose at one of the entrances so you can hose your dog off if he/she gets muddy. There is a lot of room for dogs to run and play. Children under 10 are not allowed so you don't have worry about your big dog knocking down a child while chasing another dog. For the most part I have met responsible owners who keep an eye on their dogs and have had no real problems. I did have one woman freaking out when my son's 100 pound dog was barking at her dog. He was PLAY barking and her dog initiated the play. She also had treats on her which was causing all the dogs to goose her in the behind. However, owners like this are more the exception than the norm. Additionally, the park is big is enough that you can move to another area if you aren't comfortable with certain dogs or owners. Once while I was there someone from the Parish showed up to make sure all of the dogs were wearing current rabies tags which I didn't mind as my dogs are current on all of their vaccines. There are a few small drawbacks so i couldn't rate it 5 bones: The only fountain is near the entrance. There are no doggy pools or sprinklers. The agility equipment you are warned to keep your children off of is non-existent. I have never seen it. It gets muddy quick when it rains and lots of puddles form so I would recommend having a towel in the car...AND...they close at 5:30 every night. This makes it very difficult for local working people but ideal for retirees and travelers.

    pits

I have been bring my dog to the dog park for 2 years. I love the people I have met. My dog is very well socialized. My dog and I both look forward to going to the dog park. But In the last 6 months, my dog has been attacked 3 times by different pit bulls. It is a great park but something needs to be done about the unsocial, aggressive dogs. I refuse to go the the park any more.

    Ok

This can be a great dog park if you go during business hours. I personally have noticed if i go in the evenings when everyone gets off work you run into a lot of people that don't know dog park etiquette or have unsocialized dogs. I have gone many times around 12 or early afternoon and have had a pleasant experience with both the owners and the other dogs.

large park with unfriendly dog owners

The facilities are nice--a large space with water and poop bags available. Despite the nice set-up, people often don't scoop. Many dog owners are on the phone the whole time, or are afraid of dog play. An African American man had his dog banned from the park because it was barking at another dog (who should have been in the space for smaller dogs anyway.) It's not a place dogs can run free, so I can't recommend it.
