People aren’t wrong when it comes to the dog beach. Personally we don’t go for the beach. The quarry loop trail is a great easy walk for your pup.

The dog beach, aka South beach, is one mile from the nearest parking lot, two miles round trip, and the beach was mostly rocks. I like to swim with my dog and enjoy a sandy beach. This wasn’t worth the long hike carrying beach gear.

I've been going to Harrington Beach for many, many years now. I have been there when the water level was low, leaving a lot of nice sandy beach front....and, I have been there when the water level is high. I was just there last week. The entire beach line from the point going south is all dog beach, not just in front of dog picnic area, so we had plenty of nice sandy beach at the Northern part of the dog beach. Otherwise, yes.....Lake Michigan levels are much higher than they have been in previous years leaving a lot of rocky beach front. That said, it is still the best beach within a 3 hour drive we have found so far and my yellow dog (pictured above) just loves it, waves and all!!

Barely a dog beach. There was water, and we brought a dog. That’s about it. As other have said; rocky, almost no shore, and a decent walk to even get there.

Joke of a dog beach rocks and shells and a little bit of sand before it hits the eroded shoulder. Not somewhere to go for a dog beach. May 2016

Sorry Harrington, but look elsewhere for a dog beach. Unfortunately, there aren't that many in WI. This so-called dog beach is a joke. The lake has eroded most of the dog friendly beach area. What remains is literally 10 ft wide, very weedy, and rocky.

We took a day trip to check it out and absolutely loved it. Our two labs had so much fun on the beach, playing in the water with other friendly dogs. We definately plan on camping there now too, since it was so dog friendly. We went on the 4th of july. The people only beach was packed shoulder to shoulder, but on the pet beach there was a good 50ft. between families for the most part. I also am hesitant to say how great it was, because I don't want it to get too crowded either. But if your pet is friendly, the more the merrier.
