    Horrible

I had been using Lucky Dog for my three dogs for 2 and a half years now. This summer I have been bringing them just about every three weeks for the weekend as my husband is in the military and is gone all summer for training and I have been visiting him when I can about 4 hours away. Two are Mals and one is a Mal Shepard mix. I left one Mal and the mix with them this past weekend. I recieved a call Saturday that the one had pulled her tooth out on the crate after they were vaccuming around her crate while she was in it. Initially they called telling us that she needed to be picked up because she was too anxious. I explained she does not like vaccums, and does get anxious in the crate, otherwise please keep me informed on her tooth but I was not too worried as she is a very anxious dog (why I boarded her). The next day I came to pick them up I was told that they are too anxious and had to be “better trained” before they could come back. I informed him that they are PROFESSIONALLY trained and that they just don’t like the crate. He then asked WHO trained them. Are you serious? They’re off leash trained by a professional and I worked with them myself. He then mentioned to me that last night one of them chewed part of the crate and “tore his mouth up.” Thats when I became upset and asked why I wasn't informed of this? He said “ I dont know you should have been. “ He then proceeded to tell me that there have been other issues in the past when I asked why all the sudden there has been a problem when Ive been taking them here for years. Apparently one chewed a bowl before. I had told the staff long ago they could not have anything in their crates but bones. He said it was “dangerous” to not give them water overnight in the summer. How hot is your facility??? He then proceeded to say they are too anxious in the group and stay to themselves. I asked then why had I been told EVERY TIME I called/picked them up that they were doing great and played well in the group? Again his answer was “someone dropped the ball” and I should have been informed. They had never been aggressive- so I don’t see the problem. He could not tell me why I had never been told about any of this until today. Basically I had been lied to. He then said it was the owner and general managers decision and he was just told to talk to me. I asked why they couldnt have talk to me themselves and he said they were TOO BUSY opening a third location. Unreal. For two years I have been bringing my dogs and boarding and have been told every single time that they were wonderful, so I kept brining them. Why was I lied too? Your facility boards DOGS. They chew things and they dont like to be in a crate. They get anxious away from home. It is your JOB to care for them while I cannot. Obviously the facility “dropped the ball” in more ways than one. I am glad it happened and I regret taking my dogs for so long. I’m sure a manager will post on this and tell me how wrong I am as they did another one star reviewer. If you have a shepard, mal, or any “anxious” breed DO NOT take your dog here. They OBVIOUSLY cannot handle it and I shudder to think of how they were handling my high energy dogs. I really do blame myself for not being more involved in my dogs care and allowing this place to care for my babies.

    Best Concept Ever

After hearing about Lucky Dog through friends I finally decided to stop by, first time without my dog, to check it out and had a blast! People are so friendly and so are the pups! It's never a dull moment that's for sure! After my first visit I decided to bring my dog back the very next day, he had the most fun I think over ever seen him have. All the dogs were so nice, and the weather was awesome so there were lots of dogs inside and out! They have a GREAT beer selection with lots of local beers and then some. Bar tender was really helpful and staff very friendly. Needless to say, this will be a weekly stop for us at the very least!

    Hands down-BEST

I wish there was a Lucky Dog in Raleigh or Cary because I would take my dog there every weekend. And I would probably send her to day camp there too. Best place for indoor and/or outdoor dog play and even better...us humans can relax with an adult beverage and enjoy our 'kids' playing! Will definitely be coming back!

Yes, it's a Dog Park with a Bar

During an overcast day when staying on Lake Norman, my wife and I googled 'dog park' in the area and found this place--it's an indoor/outdoor dog play area with a full bar and an excellent selection of drafts. Cool idea! Yes, it's a bit funky but that's expected. Dog people are friendly as always so we got to hang out and hoist a few while our dog ran around and made some friends of his own. It was hot but there was a hose, a baby pool, and a number of water bowls. If we lived in the area we'd probably go regularly--there are a good number of regulars, from what we gathered! Understandable.

They do not have food but a take-out place nearby will deliver there in a hurry.

I use these guys for grooming an occasional day care. They always do a great job and my dog loves it.

    Grooming!!

I have a difficult dog to groom, I have him cut a specific way to fit his breed. After going to several pet salons around this area (and then some) I was starting to lose hope in ever finding a groomer I liked. I've been to Lucky Dog many times for the bar side and decided to give their groomer a try; I will NEVER take him anywhere else, I've found the BEST grooming service in and around town!!!!!

Awesome Place to take your Dog

I originally found the Lucky Dog Bark & Brew on Facebook and immediately knew I wanted to take our dog there. It is a bar and we don't even drink!! Our English Bulldog had the best time playing off leash with all the other dogs while we mingled with the other patrons. They set up little pools for them to swim in too! We went for the Tuesday night beer & bath special and our pup got a bath while we were there!! They do not serve food but you can order from various restaurants that will deliver it to the bar. They have big screen tv's set up, a large indoor and large outdoor play area (depending on the weather), and they also schedule different fun things to do throughout the week. They also have boarding and daycare available if you are in the area. They require the dogs to be spayed & neutered, up to date on all their shots and be well socialized. The owners are super friendly too!! I highly recommend this place to anyone that wants to do something fun with their well socialized dog!!! I can't wait to go back!!

    Lucky Dog!

We have been multiple times and have always enjoyed ourselves , and the dogs were more than happy! The pups typically make great playmates and although one of ours can be a bit ornery at times, we never felt as though we were not wanted. The owners are such divine animal lovers and it makes the experience that much nicer. Even their very own pooches are there and a pleasure to play with! I have yet to find another place that is so social and easy going. We have been looking for a good groomer for our smallest (shihtzu) to be taken care of at, as we had negative experiences in the past. When we dropped him off, they were expecting him and were attentive. Less than two hours later and we were there picking him up and he was such a happy pup. This may not seem like much to some, but he is very particular and typically very stressed at the groomer. His new look was better than I ever even imagined, she got every detail taken care of!

We look forward to going back as any times as we can to Lucky Dog!
