- AprilJun 26, 2023Not friendly for pets
Very limited times to have pets (6a-10a off leash) and then no pets whatsoever until 6p-10p. We weren’t aware and had a small Chihuahua and got dirty looks and I think someone called the police/beach patrol. Not worth an almost $300 fine and also not worth $50 to get a “permit”, what?
- karenJun 6, 2023Really how much $ does Sullivan need from us?
50$ to walk our dog 1 time during our trip to SC. Ridiculous …truly!! I have to contact my vet to get rabies verification-over the top!!!. I’m wealthy and well feel this is truly unnecessary and ridiculous!!!!! Let people walk in am and pm and be done!!

This is a great place to walk off an early dinner and watch the sun set. There was one oaf who couldn’t control her untagged dog, and it attacked our dog. Luckily, she was okay. I wish they would enforce the law, but we enjoyed Sullivan’s anyway. Early evening parking is easy. I wouldn’t try during the day during peak season.
- MyraOct 17, 2020Dog permit required to avoid expensive fine
I didn't see a sign stating that a permit was needed to walk a dog along the public beach in Sullivan's Island. I was stopped about 5 minuted into walking my leashed dog and immediately issued a ticket for $260.00
- NicoleJan 12, 2020SO much fun!
This beach is incredible when you go during the off leash dog hours. So many dogs having the time of their lives! My golden retriever loved every minute. If only they had the off leash rule all day long!

Friendly natives, everyone picks up after their own dog, nice stretch of beach for walking, early morning is best. Great placed to watch the sunrise or sunset.

I have been taking my dogs to Sullivan’s for years. Always tons of dogs. Times change throughout the year, so check their site. Pretty sure after the off leash time ends, all dogs must leave beach. Even leashed. You can always go to IOP after.

Highlight of our trip! We parked along the street for free on Station 18 1/2 Street (check parking rules; tires should be off of pavement; pay attention to "No Parking" signs; parking easier to find in off season). Our dog loved being able to run the beach off leash! We had attempted other beaches that required dogs to be on leash and it is just not the same. There were so many dogs on the beautiful November day we decided to visit this beach which made it even more fun. The area around Station 18 1/2 has a nice little sand bar area as well. We will undoubtedly be back and will plan on staying closer to this beach next time! **Remember, practicing responsible dog ownership habits like cleaning up after your dog and watching your dog closely allows us all to enjoy places like this beach! I hope you enjoy your time here as much as we did!
- CcMore than a year agobeautiful big beach
Great beach for dog lovers! It is big and spacious. Dogs are allowed off leash in the morning until 10am I believe. Though I was there in November the afternoon and still had my dog off leash - no one seemed to mind.
- JimMore than a year agoMY MISTAKE
My previous post was directed at Morris Island.
Sorry to everyone on Sullivans Island.. it's GREAT!

This place takes a seasoned captain to get to and then only at low tide. The currents are so bad... 10 Knots when the tide turns.
I sure would hate to see a dog go out to sea.I can't believe they would post that on this site.
