Mother and daughter meet the ocean for the first time! Mother is a water fanatic, titled in dock diving and daughter is following in mom's pawprints. They had a BLAST. This was after season's end when dogs are allowed on beach any time of day and with no one in sight we cheated a bit going off leash, as I saw others do in the days to come. Everyone respected the rights of others and I didn't see any problem dogs- lots of happy ones!

Drake's Island

Drake's Island in Wells, ME, is pet-friendly. From April 1 until June 15, dogs must be leashed and under control of a responsible person at all times. From June 15 until September 16, dogs are only permitted on the beach from 6pm until 8am and they must be leashed and under control of a responsible person. Dog owners are reminded to clean up any mess that is left behind to preserve the cleanliness of the beach for others. Visit Website
