    Soggy but nice

We went on a very wet day after a few days of rain and it was definitely muddy in the regular/large dog area. The small/shy dog area was covered with a half inch of rain. Puddles about 3 inches deep and about a foot across were at the ends of the agility equipment. I was excited to see the small dog area had a jump, dog walk, and A frame. The A frame seemed incredibly steep. I wonder if it conforms to a standard pitch? We didn’t explore the trails since the fenced areas were so wet. We’d like to go back on a nice day.

    It's Okay

Went on a Saturday and no other dogs around, despite parking lot having 8 cars. It was kind of muddy. Will try to return when there are more dogs.

    Great when Dry

The park is wide open and decent size to allow my dogs to run around. There are some trails(Leash required) behind the OLA which allow for some additional exploring. I have never seen the parking lot full, but with that said it is right next to a busy road, so make sure your dogs and children don't get away from you. I think there may be some drainage issues for it is soggy for a few days after it rains.

    nice place

Large fenced in area with some good obstacles, plenty of benches. Great place to warm the dogs up before taking them for a hike right behind the park.

    escapes

I like going here when we've had rainy
days it is less muddy with the bark.
However, if you have a smallish dog in
The large area, they can easily get under
    the gate.

    Be Responsible for Your dog

    Remember:

Once your dog is out of the off-leash area, it MUST be on a leash. If you walk your dog on the roads and trails of Japanese Gulch, please put your dog on a LEASH. There are many bicycle riders, joggers, and people walking in Japanese Gulch.

Recently, there have been incidences of unleashed dogs attacking others. You don’t always know how other people will react (try to pet your dog or try to harm your dog), and you cannot be certain how your dog will react to other people.

As a matter of courtesy and SAFETY, for you, them, and your dog, please keep your dog on a LEASH.

    Mukilteo Tails and Trails

Excellent access, lots of parking, great setting for the dogs of all sizes, ages and abilities. Completely enclosed fencing with the large park which allows for extra run and play, and the smaller separate shy dog enclosure is an amazing use of this space. BYOB – Bring your own bowl and a bottle of water.

    Scenic but Soggy

The Japanese Gulch OLA is in a beautiful setting! With views of Puget Sound and access to trails it offers a very nice setting. However, due to the wood chips on clay it was quite soggy in mid-February. The site has no water for the dogs, thus, they all drink from these puddles. I would be very concerned about the spread of parasitic &/or bacterial disease. I will visit again when it's dry, as the people were very friendly and the space is large enough for the dogs to get a good run.
