Hillcrest Dog Park

Hillcrest Dog Park in Clovis, NM, has two fenced in off-leash dog parks, one for smaller dogs and one for larger dogs. The larger dog area has a lot more space for ball throwing and chasing, which the smaller dog area has trees. Both dog areas have three or more fake fire hydrants for dogs to use, as well as public spigots for filling up water dishes. The city has many rules posted, most important being that all dogs must have a current city license and be current on all vaccinations. Dogs younger than 4 months are not allowed. Visit Website

Prettiest dog park we’ve been to!

Really pretty dog park. Cute statues. For those complaining about the dog poop, we have never seen a dog park that didn’t have poop. It is not the park’s problem. EVERYONE should pick up after their dog(s) but few do. It is really nice to find a dog park with grass, shade, water, and benches. We will be back again on our way through Clovis.

    nice dog park

We found this park quite by accident but our dog loves it. All the shade is at far end of park as are the water spigots. A kids water pool is in the side for big dogs. Nice grass with minimal dog waste left on ground. Our dog loves to check out the fire hydrants and dog statues

    Nice large dog park!

This was a nice park, large area to run dogs, mostly dirt but had grassy patches on either end, no real shade except on one side, but did have some seating for owners right at the entrance. Did not notice water available (I brought water and bowl with me). Had smaller area for small dogs. Overall area was clean very little dog poop around on the ground. Is shaped in an L shape so there was a good amount of area for the dogs to really run and play. Was a quiet weekday morning when I was there and was only one using the large dog park so can't comment on how other owners/dogs are or how often it is uses.

    Nice park!

Note: Park is at 10th and Sycamore, through the big stone arch. Directions steer you to 1st and Sycamore.

Great park, well maintained grass, but plenty of dog poop around.

great dog park, with friendly people!

The park it self is really good. Plenty of space. The only downside I could find was the small stickers that goes in your pups paw that other people have commented about too. They are easily removed so it's not a big issue

    Lots of room to run!

The large dog park is huge, so there's lots of room to run! There is a hose for water, but you might want to bring a bowl and jug of water so you don't have to walk the whole way. And the bowl and "pool" provided can get pretty nasty, so watch out if you don't want your dog to get in the water.
So far, we've only met great people and their dogs. Everyone was very friendly and respectful and no one has freaked out if the dogs wrestle. There are those stickers (we call them land mines) that are randomly around and you'll see a dog limping. But you just pull it out and the dog is good to go.
There are plenty of poop bags provided. The fence is well maintained, and there are some shady spots and benches around.
Our dogs love it, and they burn plenty of energy there.

    Rules NOT enforced!

Beware of this dog park! It is really hit or miss when we go. It is a very gross park, lots of uncleaned feces and i do not think Clovis Animal Control EVER comes out to check on things. I have personally witnessed people get bit by overly aggressive dogs!!!! I have watched children get pounced, dog get choked out by their owners, absolutely horrible stuff!!!!!!! there is this really weird group of girls that frequent that park and all of their dogs are not neutered and quite frankly very unhealthy looking. people with aggressive dogs will NOT leave the park if they attack your dog and you are expected to be the one to leave! AVOID AT ALL COSTS, find an alternative because this park is scary.

    We stayed for hours!

The park is really nicely set up, which was a nice surprise. Free dog waste bags and trash cans in both the large and small dog areas, fake hydrants, and really friendly dog owners. The water spigot lines were broken when we showed up, but there were water dishes everywhere. I'm surprised there wasn't much information online since it's such a great area.
