    Our usual spot

This is a pretty good dog park. Most people are good about keeping an eye on their pups. There is not a lot of shade and one side borders a busy road, but there’s ample parking and it’s a pleasant, short walk between the parking lot and the park. Be aware that owners are not always 100% about picking up after dogs, so watch your step. If your dog is shy, avoid the pavilion, because dogs can feel cornered there. It gets a little crazy on weekends. Still, it’s a pretty good park.

    I would Avoid

I’ve been to the dog park three times and haven’t been very impressed. This last time was the worst where my dog started getting attacked by a couple other very aggressive ones and the owners did absolutely nothing except stand there and stare. Another time there was a giant hole covered in mud and wet water so my dog was completely filthy from it. They offer water and gazebos but I rather stick to dog parks in the area where owners truly care about their pets.

    Friendly & Clean

We come at least every week. The owners and pups have always been friendly. If a dog has been a bit sassy the owners have been pretty good about staying on top of them or leaving. It stays clean thanks to everyone cleaning up after their dogs. Lots of tennis balls to throw around and bowls for water. Definitely bring a jug or two of water for your pup! There are a few benches and a nice shaded area for owners and dogs to take a break from the sun.
For it's size (considering its location), grassy area, and cleanliness I give it 5 out of 5 bones!

    Bad dog owners

My 2 year old corgi was attacked by three much larger dogs. The owners didn't even noticed and only one took physical action to restrain their dog. I unfortunately had to throw and kick the other two dogs away from my baby. I have never seen such lack of ownership and irresponsibility for ones pet.

    Wynetka Ponds Dog Park

Has two very nice fenced-in grassy areas each with a water fountain, plenty of trash cans and clean-up bags. One side is always closed for revegetation to alternate usage. People seem to be pretty good about cleaning up after their dogs. Trees and picnic benches make it comfortable and it is well maintained. Nice park. I'll be back.
