Dog Park at Mill Pond Park

Mill Pond Park's dog park is a great spot for Fido to run and play off leash in Saline, MI. It features a 1-acre grassy area with a double-gated entrance, agility ramps, picnic tables, water access, and trash cans. Be mindful that it is fenced on only three sides with open water access, which gives Fido a great opportunity to play in the water. Visit Website

    Can't wait to go back

I took my GSD and Aussie to Mill Pond multiple times (about every weekend) last year because they love swimming. Never saw the same dog twice, but usually always friendly dogs, only had a problem once.
It is definitely dirty, dogs usually need a rinse down after, but they are so worn out from swimming and running around. Not for dogs who want to run off because they could.

    My Dog LOVED it

Lots of space. Has already been clean. People are very nice. Water is questionable...very muddy and merky...but my dog didn’t care! She loved it. Highly recommend.

    Great Dog Park

Dog park is awesome. My lab loves it here. Lots of space to run around and SWIM! The water is muddy, and your dog will get messy...but it is worth it. It is fenced in on 3 sides, the 4th side being water...there is a lot of space surrounding the dog park in case the dog figures out how to get outside the fence. Definitely worth it if your dog loves to swim!

    Off leash dog swimming!!

This is the best completely off leash dog swimming you will find in the Metro Detroit area! The dog park is fenced on 3 sides with the 4th side being the Saline River. The bottom of the river is dirt, not sand so the dogs do get dirtier than they would in a lake or a pool. But as long as you buy a dog hammock (they sell them at any major pet store) and hose your dog off when you get home it is well worth it!!

    Great Day!

Mill Pond park is just the right size. Restrooms are easily accessible, children in all of their excited state are just far enough away in their own playscape not to distract the dogs from their playscape. The fenced in area is of a great size as previously mentioned and the other dogs and their parents are great. I have an older dog a bit set in his ways not too fond of dogs larger than him and the other dog parents were very patient and great with us making slow introductions or just keeping distance if need be while my other young pup was happily entertaining crowds with her water skills. I just cannot say enough good things about the other dogs and their parents there. It's such a nice, clean, and convenient place to take the dogs for those of us who live in the 'burbs without water access.

Not secure..and not small dog friendly

This is a large nature/children's park with a smaller area in the back that is fenced off for the dogs, perhaps half an acre of so. The gates to go in and out of the dog area are not at all secure. They barely close and have about a 1 foot gap at the bottom which would allow a small dog (perhaps 15lbs and under) to easily slip under the gate and escape. I brought my 10, 14 and 18 lb dogs here and the smaller 2 walked right under the gate. Luckily I caught them in time before they got out. Also, the dog run is fenced on 3 sides with the 4th side being the lake. If you have a dog that gets a little too carried away in the water, he can just swim down a little ways and when he gets out he will no longer be within the fenced in area as the river spans most of the park. If your dog is really well trained and will come straight back to you, then they would probably love playing in the water

    fun day

7/8/12 My two dogs and I had a great time here, the people and other dogs were very friendly. Yeah the edge of the water was a little muddy but its expected with all the dog running it and going in and out of the water. Cant wait to go back again!!!!!!!!!

    Disappointing

6-2-12: First time here, water was disgusting, wouldn't let my dog near it. Maybe it's better when there is more rain and the river is moving? There was a nice small stream where at least she could cool off a little bit.

    Millpond

My dog absolutely loved it there, It was a little too muddy and messy for me I wish they had sand instead of mudd but all in all it was a good time for my dog and she was happy the entire time. the water is pretty brown though I wish it was a nicer area but its the closest water my dogs allowed in.

    SHIH TZU/BORDER TERRIER

Visited early May,2010. Dog area is nice with some running space. Water had no fishy smell and there was no muck or debris. One park bench and one picnic table are provided. The kids' play area and restrooms are near the parking lot. People can fish, too.
