    Best park in 10 states

    We've been on the road from California to Alabama and back, and we've been to dog parks every day with our GSD, Lucy Rose. (In fact, one day we visited three parks in three states; GSDs need a lot of exercise, and she's a one year old.) This park is the absolute best one. It's so well thought out:
    -beautiful grass and trees;
    -big concrete pad with buckets, pools, and a hose;
    -benches in the shade;
    -rocks filling in where water drains so that it prevents mud holes;
    -separate sides for small and large dogs;
    -in addition to the double gate that most parks have, there is also another fence barrier which is really smart because it cuts down on the greeting committee thing that happens when a new dog comes in and the other dogs want to run over and surround the new one; this is great because it gives you time to get the leash off and lets your dog acclimate in case they're a bit timid until they get the lay of the land;
    -nice walking path around it on the inside;
    -nice people who come regularly (we talked to everyone in the evening and when we came back again in the morning before we left town);
    -close, easy parking.

    We're looking for a place to retire in the south, and yes, dog parks are important. Montgomery is definitely in our top three places thanks to this park and the Garden District neighborhood.

    Best dog park!!!

    This park is amazing. It has a beautiful walking path so that the humans can get their exercise while the dogs play off leash. The park is well maintained. The lawn is mowed weekly and whenever there is a problem, it is immediately taken care of. Cam (the woman that another reviewer called “creepy”) does a fantastic job at taking care of the park for the Humane Society. There is also a public Facebook group where all announcements are posted. It’s a great community park!!

    Fantastic Park

    Daily Players, We love the park and EVERYTHING about it, from the amenities to the friendships formed between people and dogs and that there are always familiar faces to help guide newcomers whenever possible and that it was put in place with donations from the community and the Montgomery Humane Society to give our dogs a place to run and play and socialize. Shout out to the MHS employee who helps out and keeps it maintained and shares photos of the happy dogs to our local community page and guides newbies in the ins and outs whenever possible.

    Great Park!

    Love this park! LOT's of room to run, separate sides for big and small dogs. Met lots of great people and had a fantastic time with the dogs! Wash stations a plus! There is also a local FB group where the attendent and regulars post photos and updates too, cause they love visitors and showing off the beautiful park!

    Creepy lady taking pics and notes on my dog.......

    The park itself is very nice. Plenty of room to run around and securely fenced.
    Only and big problem....there was a middle aged short woman with two Australian Shepherds who claimed to be a humane shelter volunteer taking pics of my dog and asking probing questions regarding his vaccine status. She was clearly taking notes on him and took pics of me and my dog WITHOUT my consent. There are no requirements to register your dog, so there is no reason for this behavior. I do not feel safe at this park and will not return!

    Awesome

    BEautiful and fenced in spaces for small dogs and another for large dogs. Nice hiking trail within dog area which allows owners to walk while dogs run and play. Mature trees and shelters for shade. Water station for dog drinks and washing up dogs when necessary. Caution no restrooms available close for humans. Located adjacent to Blount Park and Shakespeare Center which allowed for additional trails to walk dogs on leash among rolling hills.

    First Time Visitor

    We stop by this dog park while we were on a road trip through Alabama. We love that its free and open to the public. We were very pleased at how nice this park is. There is a few stimulating activities areas like the weave poles and the small swimming pools. It was nice that it also had shade (as we traveled there during the summer) it had a nice gravel walking path that was great for us to stretch our legs. Very nice size park!

    Huge Park!

    Loved this park- spent a few months working in Montgomery and this park was a great break for the dogs and myself. People were awesome and the park is huge with a walking loop for humans. Lots of shade spots, water and it was very well maintained.

    Great...but some problems.

    Dog park is great space with amenities. However, rules are not being enforced like picking up after dogs. My dog was also snuck up on and bitten by another person's dog who did not apologize or say anything other than her dog was not friendly. My dog did not engage this dog and was minding his own business when her dog bit him. He has a small bite on his thigh, and we will not be back. There was no one there screening dogs and she was gone so fast that I do not even know if that dog was vaccinated. So disappointed.

    Great Park!

    We're currently driving across country from Atlanta to Palm Springs and we stopped here on our first day to let our 2 dogs run after a 10 hour flight from Brazil. They had a great time. All the dogs in the park were nice as well as all the local owners. Park is clean with little bridges and a nice path that circles the perimeter. There is one little muddy hole that of course our dog found, but no problem because they have an area where pups can rinse off. Super nice and open park. Easy to find as well.

    Awesome dog park!

    Really lovely, large, clean dog park! Dog-friendly daytime park attendant from Humane Society helps to keep this a safe and clean park. Lots of shade trees, shrubs for sniffing around, benches (in the shade), bridges, nice walking path, tennis balls all over the place, and my dog's favorite - a wading pool for cooling off, plus hoses for rinsing off dogs, and poop bag stations. My ten year old dog wore herself out running and playing with everybody out there. Everyone there was friendly and everyone seems to pick up after their dogs. Fun time for all! Aug 2014.

    Great Dog Park!

    Best thing that happened to Montgomery! Beautiful dog park with large and small dog area that is well maintained. The planners have done a fantastic job of designing and keeping check on any small problems that arise. The on-site dog ranger is wonderful. You know your dog is safe. Plenty of water, benches, nice trail, and doggie bags provided. The people and dogs we have met are very nice and attentive to their dogs.

    Perfect Escape

    I have been bringing my large dog to this park (basically) every day for a few months now & still have yet to have a concern for his or my safety. He goes crazy when we get near the park and most of the other pet parents laugh when they hear his screams of excitement. I also must add that before we started visiting HDR Bark Park my dog had issues with other dogs but with the help from the "dog park rangers" he has made a few best friends! I love this place & highly recommend it to all pups & their parents!

    Gorgeous Park

    This dog park is gorgeous, modern and safe for dogs of all sizes. The city did a fabulous job on the design and amenities for both dogs and their owners to enjoy. A+!

    Best Park

    Love this dog park. It is well maintained and supervised. Since the small and large dogs have their own separate fenced areas, we always feel safe. My Westie and I come here about 5 times a week. He loves being off his leash. Great place for the dogs to socialize.

    Super Park

    We love our bark park. It's doggie safe & secure, well planned & great fun for the dogs. The best endorsements are photos of the dogs @ play & gleeful, anxious yelps as the dogs arrive in their cars. Come join the fun!!!

    Regular Visitor

    I highly recommend bring your dog to the Park. When it opened, I had my concerns about how my dog, Buddy, would get along with the pack. Now, he is just one of the boys. We go three times a week and if I didn't know better, I would swear Buddy is smiling the whole ride over. Buddy, loves the mud holes and space to chase his balls, the washing station means I can leave with a dog that is cleaner then when I left the house.
