We used this app to find this gem! We absolutely loved it and so did our pup. Be aware there are picnics everywhere and most dogs are off leash, which we loved. We came on a Tuesday and about 5:45-6pm it did start to get very busy.

Want to bring Fido to one of the best-kept doggie secrets in Los Angeles? Lake Hollywood Park is where the locals bring their dogs for off-leash playtime and socialization under the famous Hollywood sign. Although the park is not fenced and you will see signs stating that dogs should be kept on a leash, you might consider taking the lead from the friendly locals. Those in the know say that only aggressive dogs causing a disturbance are cited for being unleashed. There is a great view of the Hollywood Sign from Lake Hollywood Park, but if you want to get an even closer look, head to Griffith Park afterward. A 6.5-mile hike up the Bronson Canyon Trail will take you to the rear of the Hollywood Sign in less than three hours.
