Just because it is so hard to get a permit!! It took us 7 tries to finally get ONE slot and two dogs were allowed. Go early, it gets hot! There is little to no shade. Do study the provided map....there are NO signs or Markers to this place only rocks and more rocks! Do watch out for rain also for flash floods, and makes the road in very muddy.

My W.Va. puppy mill rescue has become a true DESERT DOG! We got a cherished permit to The Wave and had an unforgettable day. Wide expanses, odd and colorful rock. It is a fragile eco-system so very important to keep an eye on your dog and clean-up. Very very important to bring lots of water, preferably with electrolytes depending on the time of year. We've also hiked around the Vermilion Cliffs, Paria River, Red Canyon, and gone cross-country skiing next to Bryce Canyon in the winter --- she is in 7th heaven here & the official leader of her 4-Paws & Waggin' Tails S'ern UT Hiking Club.
