  Dog friendly company, some dogs may not enjoy

  Our 60lb, 1.5 year old golden retriever’s first time out on the water. Dogs are allowed in their rental vessels, office, and transport vehicle. Their website indicated they had dog life jackets for rent but upon arrival, they had none. Our dog was fine without one, but she’s been bred for swimming and has webbed feet. I’d recommend getting one beforehand if you have a smaller and/or non-water-savvy dog. I fit myself (120lb) and the dog in a single person kayak, but they suggest a canoe if riding with a medium to large dog. Getting in/out and getting unstuck from rocks was most difficult with a dog but it went really well otherwise. She got used to the occasional rock hitting on bottom of the kayak and the class one rapids. She got bored on the 2.5 hour trip but enjoyed stopping to swim around, meet people, and meet about 4 other friendly dogs. A great day, but I could see how some dogs wouldn’t like it. We probably won’t take our dog every time we go.
