Jean Lafitte National Historic Park and Preserve

There are a few pet-friendly areas at Jean Lafitte National Historic Park and Preserve in New Orleans, LA, including Chalmette Battlefield, the visitor center deck at Barataria Preserve, and in all parking lots. Pets are not permitted in Chalmette National Cemetery or on the trails of Barataria Preserve. Pets must be leashed at all times and may never be left unattended, even in vehicles. Visit Website

    Misleading

    There is only a small area that allows dogs (mostly the parking lot and visitor center). They are not allowed on trails so unless you plan on just hanging in the parking lot or leaving your dog in the car, I wouldn’t recommend bringing them there. The park is wonderful, though.
