  Wish there was off leash time

  I live so close and my dog LOVES to frolick in the surf. it is utter joy to watch. I wish there were off leash periods. my dog is amazing off leash and he would not be happy not being able to run when at the beach.

  Wish There Were More Trash Cans

  Folly Beach is an absolute favorite for both my husband and I to vacation and we love taking our pup with us. I do, however, wish there were a few more trash cans along the beach. They are at some of the public beach access ramps but if my dog uses the restroom I feel like I have to carry it a really long way before I can throw it away. Aside from this we love Folly Beach.

  I Love Folly, but...

  I love Folly beach and usually feel very comfortable taking both of my dogs on a walk. I have one dog that gets very defensive when dogs charge him and get in his face, this is the reason I bring him to a beach that has strict leash laws. I did not have a good experience yesterday.
  There were a lot of dogs off of their leashes and one dog was on a leash, but not being held by their owner and it charged at my dog. The owners defense was it was on a leash and it was my dogs fault. I am pretty sure. a leash law means owners need to be in control of their dogs. I am hoping this was just a bad day and leash laws were not enforced because it was New Year’s Day. I will try again because I live here and my well behaved dogs deserve to go on a walk at the beach.

  Calm Happy Dog

  We love to walk our dog on the beach, but when there are a bunch of dogs off leash racing up to him, our walks are more about defense than happy sniffing and exploring. Not fun and very stressful for him (and us)!! Folly requires that dogs be leashed, and that is a great thing! We are thankful we can bring our boy to Folly, knowing he can feel safe and enjoy his walk too!

  We were really disappointed in this beach. The leash rules are really strict and there is not much to the beach here. Go to the beach on Sullivan's Island instead!
