technically you do need a tag for this park, but I have yet to run into anyone who requested to see it or gave me an issue about it. it’s just rocks which on the plus side tires out my puppy faster but on the negative there’s no grass which my dog prefers. overall nothing special but nothing awful either

As soon as I stepped foot into the park, a small dog went for my puppy very aggressively while all the other dog owners sat and watched saying they were just playing. I quickly grabbed my dog as she was yelping and took her out with not help from anyone. Another person asked obnoxiously if I had a license. I will never ever go there again. Trashy people and uncontrollable dogs.

I was welcomed at this park by the regulars right away since moving here! Private parking lot is right off the main road and right in front of the dog parks with adequate space for cars, no need for a long walk to get to the park. There are two separate spaces- one for large dogs and one for smaller dogs. There is also a park for children in the same area which is helpful.
The water fountain gets shut off in the winter as to not freeze the pipes so bring water with you. People are generous and will share water and bowls with each other. You're supposed to be a resident but nobody really checks. If you can sign up it's only $5/year which is gladly paid for upkeep of the space.
Best time to come is weekdays during the day when there are just a handful of dogs there. If you come on a Friday afternoon, weekend, or weekdays after 4pm, it's incredibly crowded to the point where I felt that if something happened to my dog I wouldn't be able to readily intervene. That's the only reason for my 4/5

I went to bring my dog to this park and was told that I needed a pass. After inquiring, I learned that although you are not required to reside in Wayne, you do need to pay for a tag in order for your dog to use this park. You must fill out an application, mail in your dog's records, sign a liability waiver, and pay a fee. In several business days, if approved, you will receive a pass good for the remainder of that calendar year. Although the park looked very nice, it seems a bit ridiculous to me that I have to mail in an application and fee in order to use a public town park.
- SandyJul. 7, 2019Great park - Great people
Or sure why so many bad reviews about this park. Yes there is stone. I believe to make it easier to pickup after your dog. As far as people not picking up that is the fault of those dog owners. When going to any park you should make sure your dog is not only current on rabies, but also all of the other shots. Especially parvovirus. That’s for the protection of your dog and every other dog

WARNING: took my pup there this past saturday, as did a friend of mine. Immediately after leaving the park, he was not well. Licking his paws to the point of not walking. Took him to the vet tonight, and he is now on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory. I texted my friend to see how her pup was, and he had the same reaction! $200+ later, and a sad pup, I will never return. Something is not safe about this park, and I highly recommend not bringing your kids OR your dogs here.
- JamieApr. 4, 2019Nice dog park but the people there are terrible usually
The agility stunts are great but the people who go to the park are not very welcoming AT ALL. Especially the woman with the medium sized shitzsu (maybe?) and the guy with the yellow lab puppy (larger than my puppy I'd like to note) who were there today 4/4/19. When I first arrived the woman, who was on her way to her car stopped to stare at me while I got my dog out of the car. And then proceeded to question which park I was going to even though she had clearly already left.
The guy with the lab definitely discriminated against my dog and me bc I have a pit / lab mix, Happy. He literally stopped me from even going into the park bc he stood at the gate with his arms hanging over the fence and outright told me he didn't know if I should go in. I let him know that he was being pretty offensive and that maybe he shouldn't be at a PUBLIC park but I doubt he cares. Also just a PSA to everyone who goes to the Wayne Dog Park please pick up after your dogs...its part of being a responsible pet owner and its disgusting for everyone else. Probably one of the messiest dog parks I've been to. Thanks! - MicheleMore than a year agojust ok
I agree with other posters that the pea gravel is difficult for dogs to run and walk on. My 40lb. dog has a hard time and does not run around at all. I purchased the $5 tag last year from the township, but never saw any other dog's with the tag on. I was hopeful that they would replace the pea gravel with something softer/easier to walk on when they resurfaced the dog park last year, but sadly, they just replaced it with more pea gravel.

Its a nice place to hang with your dog. Dogs are supposed to have the Wayne Dog Park tag to use it. Our 135lbs dog runs just fine on the pea gravel. Don't believe the negative comments.
- FranMore than a year agoNot bad
This is a neat place to hang with your dog. The people I met were friendly and welcoming. My only complaint was the pea pebble, it beats dirt but is a little hard on the dogs' feet.

This park has a water fountain & extra poop bags but the gravel is very hard to walk on & the dogs just sit around. I need a place for my dog to run like the wind! And get hisEnergy y out!

This place is nicely designed, but it's an absolute DUMP! No wonder there were no other dogs there. There was poop and trash EVERYWHERE. The gravel makes it hard for my dog to run on and it was getting stuck in his paws. Won't be visiting or recommending this place to anyone.

It was a nicely designed park but theres too much pee gravel and no grass and it was hard for my dogs to run on it. There was also dog poop all over the place. Not very well kept up. Definatly won't be visiting again.
