- OphieMore than a year agobeautiful and easy walk
We roadtripped from Michigan to California with our dog and stopped to visit Zion NP. We left Coco at the hotel when we did most of the real hikes, but it was nice to share that experience with her through this easy, 3 mile round trip walk along the canyon. She loved it!

I just visited Zion, in January, on my way to Salt Lake City. I knew the park was not dog friendly, and this is the only trail that allows leashed dogs. It was a nice walk along the river with some great views. Very uncrowded in January! But not the best this park has to offer. I'll go back another time without Coco.

The paved trail runs along the Virgin River and through a portion of the camping area. The river was convenient for our pup to cool down as the day was so hot. We really wanted to see more of the park than the trail and the highway(which was still gorgeous), but dogs aren't allowed on the shuttle and the only way to access a majority of the park is via shuttle. I feel like we missed out because I was under the impression Zion is one of the most dog friendly national parks. Access is very limited and we really wanted a strenuous mountain hike.

Pretty but 1.5 miles isn't a hike. My dogs and I can do it in 30 minutes. Not worthy of this publication.

A one and a half mile trail that meanders along the Virgin River. Many areas that you can take your dog down to the river. Watch out. The river runs fast.
Two nice bridges cross the river.
