Hammond Dog Park

A small dog park, installed 2013, in the southwest corner of Zemurray Park. A double-gate entry/exit to large and small dog areas, connected by a gate which can be openned by the on-site dog owners, provides owners safe entrance and exit for their dogs. Water, bag dispensers and trash barrels are provided. Due to its minimal size, dog owners are required immediately to pick up their dogs' waste. Use of this park is supported by volunteers/dog owners to ensure both safety and cleanliness. Visit Website

    Hammond dog park

Brought my Pippi there for the 1st time. It was spacious enough for her to run around & I was pleasantly surprised to see a couple filled water bowls. I'd also like to recommend a covered seated area for the pet parents & maybe a couple of obstacle challenges for extra fun with our dogs. Two discouraging things though were people need to clean up after their pets & the maintenance people need to check the fences as there are a couple of places where a small dog can potentially get under & run off. However, it was nice to be able to have Pippi off leash outside for a change.

    Happy Place

Visit our facebook page to see our park and see how much fun our doggies have there. We have an active local community of dog owners and our park is in the process of getting new amenities and upgrades.

This could be in a better place than by the wall. I believe it needs a lot of improvement. Covered areas for owners to sit under. separate entrance and exit gates for large dogs and a gate area for small dogs. Concrete pads with water faucets and water buckets. Also Large plastic play pools which some dogs love to lay in.
A great example of a dog park is the one at the Harrell's Ferry dog park in Baton Rouge.
    This was sponsored by Canes.
I believe we as a community could have better for our four legged friends.

Large enough for my small dogs. Separate sections for small and large dogs. In back of park. No obvious water for dogs but a hide.
