    Just no ..

At first it was a nice park to bring our mini doxies but after what happened yesterday, we’re not going back there. People continue to bring their 25+lb dogs on the small dog area and it scares the smaller dogs. Some small breed dogs unfortunately Cannot play with bigger, hyper dogs like some can. Since we’ve started coming here in October, 4 dogs have attacked our minis and as we’re trying to get these dogs off of our dogs, the owners just stand there not getting their dogs and/or laughing which is amazing to me because if it were their dog they wouldn’t be laughing at the injuries caused by others. Also let me not forget to mention, if you’re looking to have your dogs get humped none stop and have the owners laugh while you’re trying to get their dog off of yours than this is your go to park ☺️🙄 luckily our dogs are fixed but who wants to see their dogs get rolled over and humped at while they’re trying to play? Not I.
… And we get it, dogs will be dogs and play around which is OK but as an owner, YOU know your dogs and how they play with others so it’s your responsibility to watch over your pet!! Anyways, hope this helps those with small dogs!

    Our Favorite

Recently moved to the area and discovered this park. I love how large it is with varying areas for my pups to run and play. The water spigot is particularly helpful on these hot summer days.

Great space! But BEWARE of negligent owners

A few fenced in spaces with lots of shade, grassy areas, sandy areas, and plenty of water. We have had many GREAT experiences there with wonderful dogs and owners, but we've also had a couple horrible experiences.
The last time we went, one energetic dog got into several separate fights with a few dogs - my dog included - and the owner paid little attention. Dogs often playfully fight, but this dog clearly hadn't been trained to take cues of when he had gone too far (not the poor dog's fault!). After he made my dog bleed, I moved my dog from that enclosure to the one next door, and a few minutes later, that same dog jumped on a toddler and made her cry. The owner didn't apologize, but he did finally start paying attention to his dog.
I have a couple friends who also have stories about negligent owners at Piney Wood. This is a great space for dogs and as I mentioned, we've had great experiences here! But if you choose to go, keep an eye on your dog, and perhaps bring an air spray can in case another negligent owner brings their poorly trained dog around.

    my favorite place

This was the best thing my mom ever got me. It's only $17 a year to become a member of the DPR dog parks and it's the best money you can spend for your dog. This park has 3 areas for dogs of all sizes. The owners and the dogs who come here are so nice and I have made so many friends here.
