- KathleenFeb 25, 2024Well marked trail with friendly dogs
Main trails are very well marked, but can get quite muddy during snow melt and rainy seasons. Dogs are required to be “under control” which I believe means ok to be off leash but they must have good recall and be dog and people friendly. Great hike with lots of runoff streams to cross and pup to splash in—looking forward to hiking it when the leaves are all out but hear it can be buggy in summer.
- NicoletteDec 10, 2021Awesome Trail but beware, many offleash dogs with zero re-call
Pretty sure you're supposed to leash your dog here...many aren't. Irresponsible owners with dogs with zero recall leads to a very unsafe area for other dogs and humans. Few always ruin it for the many unfortunately - super cool trail but won't be back bc of it.
- LesleyMore than a year agoUpdate: Red Trail
Took Jeter back this weekend and we did the Yellow to Red to Blue trail loop. Red trail borders a ravine that is steep. With the leaves its slippery and will your pup has claws make sure he or she does not call an audible. The longer but easier trail is the yellow to white to blue loop. You will add an hour to your trip but your on a much less intense trail. Use the map the trails are clearly marked,

Jeter and I really love this hidden gem. Tucked away in Rockleigh with the entrance behind the Borough Hall/Fire Department if you don't know where to look you will never find it. Once you do however you and your pup will be very happy you put in the effort. Regulars told us that you have to use a leash Monday-Friday upon entering but the weekends your dog(s) can enter from the parking lot off leash. The people and dogs are very friendly when you see them. Easier than the Orange trail at Ramapo Reservation but harder and longer than Emerson Woods Preserve. Is a nice in between hike but it is a hike. Bring Deep Woods Off the bugs attacked here like no where else I've been with Jete. Even with it on I got buzzed in several spots along the way. Why only 4, no bathrooms on weekends and no water so bring yours you will need it. We'll be going back.
