Great place to swim and hike with your pup!

In summers, dogs are not allowed near the beach but that's ok! There is a great trail around the beach which took us approx 2 hrs for 4.4 miles. You can leave your dog off-leash during the trail but make sure he's on leach as you approach the beach.
In winters, he's off leash at the beach and through out.
This is my dog's favorite park and he loves playing in the water!
There are no poop bags or frequent trash bins to discard poop. It's a clean trail. - MarkMore than a year agoBest dog walk around
So dog friendly! 3.2 mile loop around the lake with plenty of places for dog to take a dip. Not allowed on the public beach in season, but there is a beach on the Southeast side of the lake owned by the nearby conference center that is very dog friendly as long as there isn’t a special event going on. Most people walking their dogs around here have them off leash.

I love bringing my dog to Ashland state park because it has trails that go along the resevoir so my dog can go for a swim whenever he pleases. We (along with most people there) have our dog off leash the whole time. Park right in the lot by the field or on the road right next to the trails so no roads to cross or anything which is a major plus. The only down side is dogs aren't aloud on the beach during the summer but we go all the time during the off seasons. The whole walk around the res is about three miles I think. All in all my favorite dog park in the area! Highly recommend.
