Cradle of Forestry

Stroll the grounds of America's first school of forestry with a trip to the Cradle of Forestry in Pisgah Forest, NC. You and Fido can walk along the Biltmore Campus Trail and see such buildings as the schoolhouse, the ranger's house, Schenk's summer office, Black Forest Lodge, and more. In summer months, you may see crafts people in period clothing make the Biltmore Campus Trail come alive with a recreation of early homesteading skills. You can also enjoy a beautiful scenic walk along the Forest Festival Trail, where you and your pup can see an ozone garden, antique portable sawmill, and a 1915 Climax locomotive. Just keep your dog on a leash at all times and make sure to clean up after them. Visit Website

Quick afternoon trip with easy trails

Like the previous review, dogs are only allowed on the hiking trails and not in doors where you have to buy the trail pass. Not many dog waste cans so you may be stuck carrying a dog bag for awhile.

    Dogs welcome on trails only

We didn't have the best experience though that was partly weather-related. Your dog can go on the trails but you mist buy tickets inside which means one person has to wait with him outside (you can briefly walk through the building to get him there). Buying tickets is done through the gift shop which had a line so it took a while. When we got to the trail it was starting to rain and though an employee offered us umbrellas the thunder then set in so we had to abandon the enterprise. There are inside exhibits too but we couldn't take the dog in.
