Great place! Sandy not rocky, and the land slopes very gently so the water is shallow for a really long distance out.
- JenniferMay. 28, 2022Great little beach in a busy, beautiful part of town!
Great place to take your dog for a swim! The actual beach part is pretty narrow, but the space is long enough for people to really spread out if they need or want to. The water deepens very gradually and is normally very calm so it's great for first-time swimmers or those that enjoy a more relaxed swimming experience. The beach is not fenced in and is pretty close to both the sidewalk and a moderately busy road so, while it's not required, a leash or long line is heavily recommended for safety. There's also a park across the street and the beach is located not too far off of the main street in town; both are great places to go for a walk. The steamboat company, which is located just up the road, usually has a doggy water station set up in front of the little white booth. Parking can be a little tricky during peak hours and around major summer holidays and you do have to pay, but overall it's not too bad. You can choose to park and pay by the hour in front of Fort William Henry or the side street or, if you're looking to spend several hours, you can either utilize the Million Dollar Beach parking lot or the semi-hidden steamboat parking lot located between the steamboat gift shop and the fort.

What a great place! Water was perfect for a first time swimmer - clean and not too many waves . Wish there were more places like this that have designated dog areas

Beautiful beach! Pup loved biting the waves. We followed it up with a shoreline cruise and a walk through town with a stop at sweet shop so the kids and pup could get ice cream. Really loved our visit to lake George. Will def be back!

Crystal clear water, easy parking, stunning views, happy pups, history all around. One of the few places i can bring my dog and swim with him with total ease.

What a great place! It was so nice to hangout on the beach with my pup. I was unsure how he would do with all the other dogs, kids and people...but everyone was fabulous! I have never seen so many well behaved dogs before! ❤️
- LauraJul. 21, 2018good but hard to find and to park
I had a heck of a time trying to find the place and then trying to figure out how/where to park. Once parked (which cost me $10, cash only), I found the beach...or so I thought! I went into the building to get changed and use the restroom, but I was sent away due to my dog being with me. Apparently, the dog beach is a short walk away from the main building and beach, and you'd better already be changed and toileted because if your dog is with you, you're out of luck. Finally at the dog beach (again, NOT marked), it turned out to be very nice. It was clear, clean, and refreshing. The dogs who were there obviously are well-behaved because the "dog beach" looked just as nice as the main beach...which just goes to show it's not such a big deal for places to allow dogs--if only they all knew that!

Doggy beach area is a smaller secluded beach area closer to the steam boat company. Our black lab loved the water and we met several other doggies playing in the water too. There is a large parking lot down by the public beach area and is a short walk to the dog beach area. Off season, parking lot area is free.

I've been coming to the Lake George area every year since I was 4 years old and I'm so glad that, as an adult, I can now take my fur kids with me!
This beach is located between the steam boat docks/ shakedown street shopping area and Million Dollar beach (note: no dogs are allowed on the 'human' section of the beach). The water is pretty shallow (there is a drop off about 3 meters from the shoreline; better for large dogs to swim in) and cold, but it's both long and one of the top 10 cleanest lakes in the US.
I would recommend keeping your dog on a leash or a long line as there isn't a fence and there's a somewhat busy street that runs behind it. Also, remember to ALWAYS clean up after your dog! This beach has been taken away from dog owners before because people didn't keep it clean. Please be responsible when here, and have fun!

Beach is long, but not very deep and close to the sidewalk. The water is cold, but it is s nice sandy bottom and pretty clean. There is a nice big park across the street. Other dogs (and owners) who were there were not very friendly, so be prepared to entertain yourself :)
- CateMore than a year agofirst beach experience!
Loved finding this beach- our 1 y.o. Brittany got her first water experience today, so fun. Expected the beach to be marked as "dog beach," but found no signs- only indication was other dogs in the water as well. Beach was clean, great park across the street, and fresh water and treats down the road from friendly parking attendants. We'll be back- definitely fun for a water-loving fido & family!
