Decent dog park but not the best by far

As other reviews have said there is nothing terrible about this dog park however I have also not found anything remarkable about this park either. If your just looking for an open space to bring your dog to play fetch this is definitely a good spot however if you want to interact with your dog but also allow them to play with other dogs, I would recommend other dog parks in the area such as banchoff park.

Interaction is the key to success

When it comes to dog parks owners should be interacting with their pups. They should not be sitting down or letting their dogs get clear across from them. In many cases what some are calling aggressive is dogs just being dogs. They growl, they chase, they do the biting, and that is why the owner should be by them to intercede and correct those actions. If the dog park is not a positive experience it should be blamed on the pet owners. Go to a dog park to help teach your dog to socialize properly. Go to the dog park to exercise them and yourself.

Excellent Park For Both Large And Small Dogs

as any dog park, the personalities of the dogs must work well. most times we’ve been there, the dogs have all been friendly. on rare occasion there are one or two dominant dogs whose owners don’t seem to care. nothing to do with the park.

Favorite dog park in Central NJ

.... Thus far.... We've visited about 5-6 dog parks within the surrounding area and I have found this one to be the best. The size of the park is wonderful you can easily have 20 dogs in the dog park with PLENTY of space. I have found that most owners are attentive and there have always been dogs here (and I mean many dogs) everytime we've gone. The saddest thing for my boy is going to the dog park and not seeing any dogs, so it's a positive that there are always dogs. There is also a water section for the dogs to drink and play which is great (having a water-loving lab)! I would recommend this park to anyone with a friendly dog! I live almost 30 min from the park, we make an effort to take the trip.

    Do not go here

took my puppy here on july 4th and while he was minding his own business and laying under a picnic table, a husky came up and bit him on the eye. He had done nothing to this dog and the owner did not seem to care, all he said was “well we were leaving anyway”. If you’re dog has any history of being aggressive or is not friendly with every dog, DO NOT BRING THEM HERE. This dogs owner did not give me his information in case I had to take my dog to the vet, he just grabbed his dog and left. This dog park is unsafe for dogs to run around if people bring dogs who are aggressive like that. I would not recommend this place to anybody.

30 lb boxer puppy LOVES this park.

I love this park, as does my boxer puppy. We are able to still use the small side, but not for long. I am worried about going over there, but everyone we meet has been so nice. Fingers crossed!

Very big and nice dog park

Of the dog parks we visited so far in New Jersey this one is the nicest. The area for large dogs is very big with grass and the equipment available in the park is fun for the dogs and allows you to train a bit in addition to letting them run and play. When we were here a rainy Tuesday afternoon in August we were completely alone.

    IRRESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERS & SUGGESTIONS

Hi! Based on my experiences at the park, I estimate that 90% of dog owners are responsible and have the appropriate and updated licenses! - That being said, 90% is not good enough! For example, I just went today and there was this very nice old man who brought his two dogs. Here is the crazy part: One of his dogs was only 10 weeks old that he admitted was caged until just two weeks ago. Furthermore, the dog had bugs all over it (most likely fleas) and tried biting my dog several times behind the neck! I only noticed one dog tag and I suspect his dog did not have his proper shots, especially rabies! Finally, both dogs were also trying to hump my dog! I immediately picked my dog up, took her home and bathed her in Dawn dish soap to kill any possible fleas! I also took a shower! I hope that my dog did not get bit! Here are my suggestions:
*All owners attending the park must have a permit specifically for the Rosedale Park that is renewed once a year. The permits must be visible at all times via a lanyard, etc.
*Have volunteers work the park when possible and check the badges. Anyone not wearing the badge must leave the park immediately. This is in addition to any other violation!
*Dogs under 16 weeks old not permitted in the park unless there is a designated area for puppies. OR, designate a place where puppies can roam.
*Limit the number of dogs a person can bring to two, three at the most!
Note: These are just suggestions but I guarantee that those problematic people with problematic dogs will not show up!

    Aggressive dog

I brought my 40 lb puppy to the park and no more than 1 minute passed before she was chased and aggressively cornered by a large black dog named Bear.
My fridge repairman told me how awesome this park was so I gave it a shot. He did tell me about an aggressive dog that he had had issues with in the past but I thought what are the chances he'll be there today.
I had to run like a lunatic across the park and grab my puppy who was pinned against a fence.
Very frightening.... Someone should complain to the county about this, I'm going to look into who to call to report these irresponsible dog owners. They have no business being there.

    Dog Lover

Is want to respond to C from Lawrenceville. Having two twenty five pound dogs keeps me out of large dog area a majority of the time but when small dog rea is empty I have taken my two over and have.encountered lack of control by owners. What should happen is a connection to park rangers by cell to admonish the irresponsible. Dogs also attack each other and similar behavior by owners is of concern. Maybe a call to M C Rangers is in order by those who have observed such behaviors.. Small dog owners are more approachable and concerned about each other. Never again with large dogs; too unpredictable.

    Great park

It's true about how nice it is and also true that some people don't take care of their dogs. I was almost attacked and my dog was. Most people there are great and a few ruin it.

    dog park

I had an upsetting incident on Sept 1 in the dog park that made me very angry. A group of dogs ganged up and started to jump on me and my dog when we entered the section for the 35 pound plus dogs. The owners had a great time and laugh and did absolutely nothing to get the dogs under control. These are probably the same owners who do not clean up after their pet because they are busy chatting. I do not mind the dogs playing with each other but I do not want unknown dogs jumping on me. The owners have a responsibility.

    fun park!

Very nice grassy area for dogs to run and play. We drove 40 minutes to get here. The doggy water fountains were fun and the agility stuff there was great! Could use more shade, especially there the people sit. Only giving 4 bones because of negligent people who don't take their aggressive dog out after attacking all the dogs in the park.
