    Best dog park

This is the best dog park we’ve ever been to. What really sets it apart is the large off-leash section with a trail by the river. I off-leash trained my dog here. It has its issues, like any dog park, with people not watching their dogs, etc, but thats not on the park.

Not A Fan - No Clean Water Source

1/4 mile walk minimum from the parking lot. if you’re a pet parent with bad knees as I am, this park is not for you! We drove 11 miles off of our travel path to get here with our pups. Thankfully I always keep bottled water for them in my car.

    Mediocre

The park in its entirety is nice, however

    Proceed with Caution

Nice place but the rules for dog park are not enforced. I have witnessed one too many dog attacks and owners not doing anything about their aggressive pets... My dog was attacked 3 times, once where he needed vet care and that was enough for me. I have called park mngmnt about this in the past and was ignored... Dogs are to be kept on leashes except when inside the dog park and have had unleashed aggressive dogs approach while the owner was far behind not paying attention... Don't feel safe to even walk the trails without lose dogs coming out of nowhere... Do to the safety of myself, my grandchild and my dog, we will not be coming back. Park mngmnt really need to step up thier game and start enforcing the rules they have posted all over the park...
    Proceed with caution

    Be Careful

I had high hopes for this place but have been repeatedly disappointed by my visits. Visitors don't bother picking up their dogs poop if they think no one is looking, some dogs are aggressive and the owners don't care or try to restrain their mean pets if they act out, and the staff or the whoever the people who run the park don't enforce the rules or care what the people do. It's pretty much a free for all and I'm scared of bringing my dogs/children again to this place if things go on as they are. PLEASE have someone there to enforce the rules.

    Love Duff!

I got my first dog, a retriever mix puppy, and started bringing her here as soon as she had all her puppy shots (4mos, park rules state that younger dogs are not allowed). She loves it and it has been a great way to socialize her around other dogs. I have never witnessed a serious dog fight in the 20-plus times we've been there in the last four months. A few minor scuffles, sure. It seems whenever a new dog shows up, the others have to figure out where that dog falls into the pack. All three areas have plenty of grass, shade, and places for humans to sit. We mostly hang out in either the large dog area or the semi-enclosed area that's open to the river. If you go here there will be mud so make sure you bring a towel! My husband and I will bring the kids and the dog and he'll hang with our boys at the playground while I take the dog to the dog park area. After everyone has run around and played for a bit, we meet up for a hike along the river or a stroll around the baseball fields. Then we head to Highmark Brewery about a half mile down Kings Hwy/Rte 3 towards Fredericksburg, which is also both kid and pup friendly. I dropped one bone in my rating because some owners don't pick up after their pups and there's usually a few piles in the back of the large dog area near the fire hydrant. Otherwise it is a great park that we are so fortunate to live near!

    Had a great time!

This was our first time visiting this park and all 2 legged and 4 legged family members had a great time! I really like how smaller and larger dogs are kept separate. This was very helpful while trying to get our dog Sammy acclimated to other dogs. The area was the perfect size and provided seating. I was able to comfortably keep an eye on Sammy and meet other really nice dog owners. The park was clean and provided water and poop bags. We look forward to many more visits very soon!

    Dog attack

Really enjoyed the dog park when it first opened but so much has changed.... There have been several major dog attacks. A young lady was trying to save her medium sized dog from being killed by a doberman pincher and was severely bitten in her hand. Her dog had several puncture wounds in it's neck. A few months later, a man brought his newly adopted pitbull into the park and attacked a dog so badly, the dog needed immediate vet care. The dog received 30 stitches in its leg.... A lady brought her cattle dog to the park and was knocked sown by a pit mix and her dog was brutally attacked.... The owner did nothing while the cattle dog was bleeding profusely around its face. This incident was reported with no response... More and more newly adopted pitbulls and pit mixes showing up at the park... Precautionary measures should be taken. The age group of kids allowed in fenced dog park is 8 and older. There are toddlers running around everywhere. Park management posted these rules but do not enforce them... I'm afraid one day someone, a toddler or innocent dog is going to be seriously hurt or worse. I myself have tried to contact park manager with no help at all. If you're new to the park, be very cautious!!!

    LOVE this place!

The separate spaces are nice with plenty of butt-parking for the humans. The toys are in supply and water barrels were full with cool/cold water. First time but planning to return!

    The Best

This is by far one of the best dog parks out there. We love it! As to the Duff Dog Park page on facebook, the person running the page is not very professional and here is why I won't be joining this group.
This is what has been said about those who don't adopt.

I just can't stand people who don't even care to consider adopting or rescuing an animal. The type of people who use excuses like "well I am buying a puppy because an adult rescue won't ever be loyal to me and/or you can't train them" or "I can't rescue because I have kids and the dog might bite my kids" or "I don't want an f'ed up dog and all rescues are screwed up and have problems" or "well I'm looking for a quality dog" or "well I wanted a puppy today so it was easiest to go to the pet store"....
Close minded idiots who know absolutely nothing and are too stupid to learn!!! There's not much in this world that makes me angrier than these type of people!

    GREAT PARK

We are soooo happy to have this park. It is HUGE! Lots of areas for playing. Lots of amenities to keep the dogs and owners comfortable. Highly recommend a visit to Duff Dog Park.
