  Separate Large and small off leash park, muddy in winter.

  The dog park itself is pretty nice, some shade, water, some benches/chairs available; but as in life, some people think rules are for somebody else-not them. Some don’t clean up after their dogs, others bring their small dogs in the large breed enclosure, though the small dog park is directly adjacent. (I don’t want the liability if my big strong dog hurting your dog while playing, and if your dog gets frightened & starts growling & biting at my dog that could easily turn into a fight - with your dog losing! Some people just don’t use their heads, I wouldn’t put my little for baby in that situation it’s not fair to them.) So just be aware of who’s there who’s coming and going and what your dog is doing and you’ll probably be OK in there.

  Revised Review

  Have had difficulty posting. One more try: This review is for the small dog park. It is really nice, but over the last several months has become, in my opinion, too small for the number of dogs that are now coming there. I have counted up to 27 dogs. The average at peak time is probably around 18. The problem is that your dog can be trampled or knocked over when the dogs "run the fence" --dogs from the big dog park come up and run the fence. And, you have to be very careful of negligent owners. There is "regular" (on weekends primarily) who throws the ball for her dog Dallas. She cannot throw. She has almost hit people, including me, and I witnessed her hitting two dogs. One was Chewy, a cute, tiny little dog that she hit in the side. The other was my dog, Cody, about 19 pounds...on his head, ON THE SAME DAY. My dog apparently suffered a seizure right after that because he shivered, jerked his head, and could not walk normally---he jerked and could not control his legs. So three things you should know: run, not walk if you see this woman throwing the ball; she's nice but does NOT CARE. Actions speak louder than words...she kept throwing the ball after hitting one dog and almost hitting people. Second, the majority of dog park people will try to smooth it over, tell you your dog is fine...anything to avoid a conflict or the truth. Third, do not believe her when she says she is going to stop throwing the ball. She said that after hitting Chewy, and i believed her. Wrong. She resumed throwing the ball, and my dog was injured. She is irresponsible and self-serving. She needs to take her ball and go home.

  off leash park

  Aldergate park is across from Freedom Crest Elementary behind the Oasis gated community. There are now two parks, a large, all size park in the lower basin and a small, under 35 pound park, adjacent by the sports field. I have been visiting the park for 6 years and our dogs love it. Valley Wide currently is responsible for the maintenance. They have hosted two community fundraisers, one to create the small park and improve the all size park. The impediments included water fountains in both parks as well as permanent benches. The dog community is great, people watch their dogs and help each other out when it comes to clean up. There could be a few more trash cans, but it is a great place.
