Natural Lands Trust's Green Hills Preserve

Green Hills Preserve is situated on 168 acres of gently rolling agricultural fields, woodlands, and wetlands within a five-county landscape known as the Schuylkill Highlands. Originally slated for a high-density development, the property went into foreclosure in 2009 and the bank’s realtor reached out to Natural Lands Trust in hopes of finding a conservation solution. Two years and nearly a dozen funding partners later, Green Hills Preserve was established.

Green Hills includes 1.5 miles of hiking trails. Are welcome provided owners keep them on leash at all times and clean up after them.

Natural Lands Trust is the greater Philadelphia region's oldest and largest land conservation organization and is dedicated to protecting the forests, fields, streams, and wetlands that are essential to the sustainability of life in eastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. Since its founding in 1953, Natural Lands Trust has preserved more than 100,000 acres, including 42 nature preserves totaling more than 22,000 acres. Today, millions of residents enjoy the healthy habitats, clean air and water, bountiful recreational opportunities, and scenic beauty provided by the lands the organization has preserved. Not much shade/watch for ticks

When we first arrived it seemed like a nice trail but there isn’t much shade along the trail so I suggest not taking your pup there on days that are too warm with the sun beaming. We walked with our pup prob .2 miles and noticed she had at least 2 ticks on her already and immediately turned around. Not that I’m too worried about ticks in general but it didn’t seem worth it to continue and possibly find more on her later. We’ve been to nolde forest many times over the past 3 years for much longer walks and never found any ticks on her. Just be weary if you’re planning a longer walk or be prepared to take more precautions. Overall we didn’t walk much of the trail so I can’t say how the rest of it is.
