    Kelleys Island State Park

The Kelleys Island State Park is beautiful. That gorgeous Lake Erie Shoreline, and beautiful wooded area.

The only reason I rated 4 bones is dogs are not allowed on the swim beach. The only sandy beach on the island is at the State Park and they don't allow any pets on the beach. The rest of the island is full of pebble/rock beaches. There may technically be some places dog can swim around the Kelleys Island State Park, there are other access points besides the sand beach, but we went down to the beach by the marina and swam there.

Wouldn't consider Nickel Plate dog friendly

I'm not sure I would consider Nickel Plate dog friendly. They do not allow dogs on the beach 10am-6pm between Memorial Day and Labor Day. If you live in Ohio you know that outside those times the water isn't very pleasant temperature wise. If you live there I'm sure its great but when visiting these times are not ideal as there isn't much to do with a dog between 10-6 to kill time.
