  Historic and Beautiful

  We enjoyed a great walk with our dog on Jan 31. We arrived as they opened at 8 am and appreciated knowing about the 4.00/person entry fee (free for Veterans) in advance. We chose a starting point and then walked mostly along the historic auto route so that we could also see the preserved Civil War and town sites in the order of the brochure. So glad there were also loop trails into the woods and beautiful trees with identifications. The war sites were well explained and the beauty and peacefulness of the park was perfect to support our 5-6 mile walk.

  Awesome!

  I had high expectations but didn’t expect it to be so awesome. it was a chilly morning and perfect for a stroll. The “hiding tree” was really cool and we explored around that end for a bit before driving to the other side and hiking the beaver pond trail which was our favorite. Way too much to take in if you’re only spending a day there. Can’t wait to go back and explore the areas we didn’t get a chance to (Had to get lunch and head home) The price was really reasonable. we had two adults,kid,and dog and only paid $8 and got WAY more than we imagined

  Beautiful location

  Blakeley State Park is such a beautiful and peaceful place to hike. Walk along the river - it is not to be missed. My dog and I had a wonderful afternoon here. Dogs must stay on a leash.

  Dishonest

  This place is run by the most dishonest people I have ever heard of. My husband and his friend took our kids camping last weekend with our dog. They paid extra for a cabin to keep a dog in. Today we received a charge for a missing blanket, a dish towel, and they claimed our dog urinated and defecated all over the cabin. Our trained black lab has never had an accident inside before and this was no exception. Nothing was taken, the dog never used the restroom inside. These people are complete liars and are just looking for a way to make an extra buck off of you. We planned on bringing our other children back for many weekends to come. Never again. Disappointed is an understatement.

  Best Park to Go to!

  If you're into hiking trails and nature, this is the place to go to. There really isn't anything else like this here in the surrounding counties. It used to cost two dollars to get in, but after the old management passed away and a new one took over, it's four dollars now. There's lots and lots of trails to follow. Now some of these trails are a little difficult, and there are a couple of old skinny bridges without railings, and an old really steep staircase that my dog couldn't make up it. I would be careful on these especially if your dog likes to jump off. These are on the north side of the park. On the south there is a long wooded bridge trail that is newer and in better shape and wider, but still no railings. There's a spot on the west side by the water where the dogs can go and play with small crabs that hang around. Just watch for the pinchers! The only thing I don't recommend is coming here after it rains. It messes up the trails, it's a huge muddy slippery mess, and it makes it difficult to know where the trails are. I actually got lost and slipped into a ravine. Me and my dog were muddy and tired, but luckily we found our way out. Make sure you bring enough water and treats for you and fido and LOTS of bug spray. Watch out for the horse flies!
