Old Santee Canal Park

During daylight hours, dogs are welcome at Old Santee Canal Park in Moncks Corner, SC. Opened in 1989, the pet-friendly 195-acre park commemorates the area's rich history and habitat. Among its attractions are the Stony Landing House, built in 1843, and four miles of boardwalks that meander through the quiet backwaters of Biggin Creek and its surrounding swamp. Beyond its historical offerings, the park has become a popular destination for bird watchers, hikers, paddlers and other outdoor enthusiasts. Dogs are not allowed at events. Visit Website

    Well maintained trail

The trails are well marked and maintained, even after rain. Variety of elevation ups and downs. The walk along the canal was nice, spotted a snake in the tree. Trails were not packed, about 6 cars in the lot and we only ran into folks at the end, along the interpretive center. Use bug spray!

We come here often and the drive is worth it! They have extensive boardwalks through the swamp. Miles and miles of trails along the river and in the swamp. A lot of nature to see and sniff!
