Texas State Capitol Grounds

Bring Fido to the Texas State Capitol Grounds for a picnic lunch on a historic site and a self-guided tour of the grounds including statues and historic markers. Located on the northern edge of downtown, the dome of the Capitol will catch your eye from all around Austin. Completed in 1888, it is widely recognized as one of the nation’s most distinguished state capitols, and the perfect spot to grab a bench for a pet friendly picnic lunch. There is also a self-guided tour that reveals the historical significance of the statues, historic markers, and trees around the Capitol grounds. Visit Website

The Capital grounds span approximately 22acres. See sprawling park-like grass with sidewalks, fountains, statues/monuments and night lighting. Bring a blanket and enjoy a picnic with your pup. Dogs are allowed on the grounds, but not inside the buildings.

    Nice Park

There’s a park right outside the capitol building that’s very nice which was a nice walk.
