Coindre Hall

Coindre Hall Park is a dog-friendly, 33-acre park and 80,000-square-foot mansion overlooking Huntington Harbor in New York. Built for pharmaceutical giant George McKesson Brown in 1912, this mansion represents the height of the Gold Coast era. Great for playing fetch!

Great park that has been an unofficial dog park for decades. Many dogs off leash, never had an issue with them. Despite the community desire for off leash dog areas/hours, the county is stubbornly imposing arcane out of date rules. If you choose to take your dog off leash, be wary of the rangers who can sometimes be extremely aggressive and mean. If you do get a ticket, they always get dismissed so don’t sweat it! Your dogs health and happiness > signs.

    One of my favorites!

Saw a review about aggressive dogs and I’m going to tell you right now that I go there multiple times a week and not once has my dog encountered an off leash dog that was aggressive. Leashed dogs are a different story, so I leash up my dog when a leashed dog comes over until I am able to ask the owner if they’re friendly. Since the place is not fenced in, owners are 99% of the time very attentive of their dogs and what they’re doing. Though I do have to say be careful because they have started to fine people for having their dogs off leash which is why I am leaving 4 stars, not 5. Otherwise it’s a great place to bring your pet!

    Dogs off leash dominate

If you like places where aggressive dogs can have their way with everyone else, then this is your place.

If you like people to have their dogs on leashes and you like to keep your dog on a leash, then this place is problematic.

Beautiful grounds, but every dog we saw was off leash.

There were signs everywhere saying dogs had to be leashed, but apparently they're not enforced -- and people know they're not enforced.

    Too bad.

    Beautiful grounds. Wasted.

    Awesome Dog Park!

We have three dogs who are very friendly. It was great to let them off the leash to run down the hill and play with other dogs. They also went swimming for the first time in a little area at the bottom of the hill. All the other dog owners were so nice. We weren’t bothered by anyone about keeping the dogs on leashes.

    Keep your dog on lead

Great spot to visit but heavily patrolled by the parks department, have witnessed many people get expensive tickets for not picking up or dogs off lead and many disputes between owners over misbehaved dogs. Don’t risk it.

    Not a Dog Park

Dogs are allowed, but on lease. Owners can be fined for dogs running off leash. Pay attention to the signage.

    Run,Swim, Hike

I have went to all the dog parks around and this one is by far the best. My dog gets to play with other dogs, run around freely up and down hills and best of all swim in the harbor. It’s located behind an old mansion where they hold weddings so it’s a beautiful view as well. This is a definite must go if your a dog owner.
