    be nice

I've tried this dog park a few times and each time I want it to be a good experience because it is a lovely park. Unfortunately, many of the dog owners are not watching their dogs. My dog has gotten bit on the ear, chased, and mounted with no owner in sight or off to the corner on their cell phone. One lady tried to tell me it was good and perfectly fine that her dog kept chasing and biting my dog. My dog was not enjoying himself! I will not go back again.

    Love it!

Beautiful park. Lots of grass to run on and benches in the shade. Dog park area has wood chips for ground cover and, again, lots of benches in the shade. I'm looking forward to my doggo getting more comfortable on the agility things. Lots of nice people and dogs.
Quick note - parking is tough once all the families arrive for soccer. And, there are lots of dogs of all sizes everywhere. Such fun!

One Of The Best Dog Parks In The Area

The park is broken into three areas: large, small, and another separate section.

    Great Park!

We are visiting Carlsbad and needed a large space to play fetch. This is a great park. Lots of running room. Lots of nice mulch. No holes or mud spots. Other dogs and owners were very nice. Our dog doesn’t like to play even though he is just a puppy (1 yo) and will snap at other dogs if they run with him and they encroach on him. Otherwise he just ignores the other dogs. The owners were all watching any interchange and would call their dog away. The park is large so we could stay at one end and wear our dog out.

There is a separate section for under 35 lb dogs. Concrete area for owners. Small sunshade. We were there in October at 4pm so weather was perfect. I will bet it gets boiling hot midday in the summer.

    We will come again!

    Clean, Friendly Dog Park

Very nice park- separate sides for large and small dogs. There's even a time out area for dogs that need it. Nice places for folks to sit, shade provided. Agility equipment provided. Nice water fountains. Very nice, fine bark surface that made it easy to clean up. We would go again..

    Stay away

My dog needed a vet visit after the two and only trips we made to this dog park. Conjunctivitis in both eyes and tapeworm. Stay away!

    Waiting till she's older

The rules for the dog park says she has to be 6 months and older and as she is still growing she was too big for the smaller dogs in the park and too small for the bigger dogs in the park. Will wait till she is older. Looked very well maintained and will be looking at it in the future.

    Nice Park!

My dog and I visited this park for the first time today and had a lovely time. There is plenty of room to romp, nice concrete benches from which to watch the action and drinking fountains provide fresh water to both dogs and humans. Separate areas for large and small dogs were nice so there was no freakouts over big dogs stomping on the little ones.

There's a deep layer of mulch spread over the area which absorbs urine well and makes solid waste pickup easy. A waste bag receptacle was well stocked with bags, readily available and all dog parents were very conscientious about using them as necessary.

What's nice is that this play area is adjacent to other rec center activities so parents could bring the K9 kids to play while their human ones were utilizing the pool, skate park or ball fields.

The best part is one pooped pup who is now fast asleep. We shall return!

    Owners Only Problem

Beauiful park, well maintained, great experience for all dogs - as long as owners behave. Large dog owners sometimes encourage aggressive behavior ... separate entry gates further apart would be safer. A watchful eye from each owner is essential ... stay off your cell phone and keep distractions to a minimum because it is your dog's time for exercise and socialization. A wonderful addition to Carlsbad area, in spite of some homeowners' complaint of noise. .Keep it clean, please!

    Dog guy

Been to the park several times. At first park was an ideal place to let the dogs run free. It amazes me how many people cannot figure out the double gate entry. Typically the entry area in parks like this have a runway with the gates several feet apart usually at opposite ends of the runway. t this park the gates are just about directly opposite from each other. Several times people will open both gates at the same and the greeter dogs that hang out by the entry manage to exit the park through the open gates.

Recently the demeanor of the of the people at the park seems to have changed. This is a DOG park where the dogs should be free to run and play. Dogs play at different levels. Some like to run and bark, some like to play as a group. Some dogs play a bit more aggressively than others. Just because dogs growl or bark at each does not mean they are at odds with each other. That is how they play. If people let the dogs play together. the dogs will usually figure it out. And to the people that keep their dogs on a leash at the park, that is not fair to the dog. Great place for dogs, it is the people that cause the heartburn.

    Dog Owner

Please change the colors of the obstacle course equipment. The park is not well lit, and my 85lb dog accidentally ran into one of the green colored pieces (thin metal hoop trio just added) -- it hurt him and scared me. Equipment needs to be reflector yellow if the lights are not enhanced for the evening.

    Just what we need!

There is so much room for the dogs to run. Lights make it easy to exercise your dogs in the winter when it gets dark early. I have 2 dogs, and they sleep so well after our visits here.

    kennel cough galore

My two dogs have managed to get sick from this park nearly every time we go. From kennel cough to ring worm, it never fails. Wood chips have eve gotten stuck in their paws. Needless to say, we haven't returned in a while and don't plan on it anytime soon.

    Amazing Park!

Best off-leash park in the area. Has separate areas for large and small dogs. Has water for both dogs and people. Very clean. A lot of people taking advantage of this park. Great fun for the dogs!
