Go for the walk, the dog park is an extra

We go to Breakheart normally about 1x/2x bi-weekly. Reading the reviews people were so upset about the dog park, it being small etc. When I think of going there, it is to give the dogs a good hilly walk and then at the end (we start on the left side of the Saugus entrance) if they feel like playing or there is someone else there, great! I wouldn't necessarily go there just for that dog park. The leashed walk is great though, you can stay paved or go off in trails. short loop: 2M ; longer loop 3M

    The Barking Lot

This is not a large or particularly attractive dog park, but we enjoyed it! It’s about 1/2 mile down the paved road in the reservation. Someone put a water bowl there, which was nice. The double gates were working well.

    Fenced area sucks

Karen, above, has got to be kidding when she says the off-leash area called Barkplace is "big." It's tiny. Really, really tiny. The reservation itself is nice but only if you want to walk your dog on a leash. If you want to let him run in a fenced area you will be disappointed in Barkplace. It has no access to the water, no fields or trees or anything. Just a little patch of cedar smaller than my city yard.

    Barkplace is a fun place!

Breakheart Reservation is very dog friendly, fun to walk and hike with dogs on leash. Barkplace is a great area to let them run off leash. Big area, new mulch, no litter, nice fencing, double fenced in entrance a plus so dogs don't escape while others coming in. Love it!!! Addition of water would be nice though.

Dog park, not so much BUT

Breakheart itself is fantastic, very dog friendly & beautiful. Great that the main path is paved, Approximately 3miles, helps keep ticks off of you & your fury friend! Great exercise, challenging course. The dog park isn't necessary since the place itself is dog friendly -leashed. But the 'dog park' that is on property is pretty bad. Great idea, horrible follow thru. Everything else breakheart has to offer for the whole family is a big plus.

    Fix it up!

Although I live here this dog park is in such rough shape hat I now go to melrose the gate has been broken for 3 yrs, it is very small it definetly needs to be moved alot of elferly I know would love to bring thier pups there but the walk in is to long for them and there is a steep path when leaving. I would gladly help I feel my donationation to the park went to something else I will now support the one in melrosr who has running water for the dogs.
