    Sleeping Dunes National Lakeshore is a pet-friendly destination in Empire, MI. However, keeping your pets away from birds and their nests during your visit is essential. This area has only 70 breeding pairs of piping plovers, an endangered bird where one-third of them nest at Lakeshore.       Great location for a sunset

      go early and enjoy the sand and views!We only made it a few steps into the dunes before many groups stop to pet Alby and share stories of their own pets left at home. We spent almost two hours taking pictures, and enjoying the sun set over beautiful Lake Michigan. Perfect Place to end our day.
