Orchard Beach State Park

Orchard Beach State Park in Manistee, MI, is situated on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. A stairway leads from the campground to self-guided, dog-friendly hiking trails adjacent to the park. Dog friendly?
So tell me how do you visit the beaches and not let your dog off their leash? We have a lab - there is NO stopping them swimming! Very disappointed in MI that they have become so anti-dogs, it didn't used to be this way.

Clean and comfortable
My active sheepadoodle enjoyed walking the trail along the beach, walking the 40 minute nature trail across the road, and running alongside my bicycle on the campground road.

Not Much To Do And No Beach Access
We had a picnic and walked the small trail that is on the bluff. Pretty views but no way to get to the water. The restrooms were nice.

A great state park
This was a great place to camp with our dogs! The only thing that would have made it better is a dog park area, but I don’t think many of the state parks have those. There are also a couple of nice dog beaches not too far away!
