Pinckney Recreation Area

Pinckney Recreation Area is a paradise for backpackers, mountain bikers, anglers and other recreation enthusiasts in Pinckney, MI. It is also dog-friendly and includes an extensive trail system and chain of excellent fishing lakes. Over forty miles of multi-use trail with remote campsites afford a backcountry experience. Gorgeous Views!
We went on the Crooked Lake Trail and only encountered a handful of other hikers (which is great for a reactive dog). The trail kept my dog interested with bridges, inclines, waterways, and plenty to explore! The only downside was finding two ticks on her after (so keep an eye out!).

Great On-leash Hiking Options
Perfect spot for hiking, just keep eyes and ears open for mountain bikers. Only downside is no beach for dogs to play in the water (at least at Silver Lake).
