  Nice place, limited beach hours

  We came thinking this was a dog beach, but there are limited hours for dogs on the beach. Dogs are allowed on the trails (on leash) and our pup enjoyed the trail, but the loop has around 499 stairs, a couple spots where there are steep drop offs and this year, risk of lots of ticks, so it may not be for everyone.

  Great Spot for Your Dog!

  My two dogs got to experience the beach for the first time today and they loved it. Love that it’s semi-private and they can run off leash. Water was cold but I’m sure most pups would enjoy that especially on a hot day. The stairs down to the beach were covered in sand toward the bottom and it was deep so that made it a bit harder to get through but otherwise great experience. Brought a couple chairs and let the dogs run around and explore with the other dogs.

  There are limited hours for dogs

  there are limited hours for dogs on dog beach. This should be called human beach where dogs have limited timeframe to enjoy the beach. I wish Michigan was more dog friendly

  Good beach

  Dogs are allowed off leash, but only in the morning until 10 am and 6 to 10 pm. Dogs are not allowed on the beach from 10 am to 6 pm. Leashed dogs are allowed on trails any time the park is open.

  Great area for dogs to play in the water

  This was our first time to Kirk Park. They just built new stairs going down to the water. Dogs are allowed off leash from 7-10am but there were plenty of dogs playing at 9am. Nice spot for dogs to be off leash and play in the water!

  Amazing beach.

  we love this beach. today is our first time here. we not say enough good things about it. FYI - It appears they rebuilt the stairs to the beach - they are solid. They are not that long - 1 maybe 2 stories high. pretty easy.

  Off leash beach

  Went on the evening of the 4th of July to watch the sunset with my pups. Other than the steps to get up/down from the beach needing some repair and trash left on the beach, it was a very nice evening. if only people weren’t so entitled to think someone else will clean up after them. As for my dogs, they loved the beach and water. Corgi had fun digging holes and Lab loved the swim. We will go back.

  Great Park

  the stairs to get to it are a pain, but our pups had a great time interacting with other dogs. we give it five bones

  Great off leash for dogs

  Pretty large area for dogs to run off leash!!!
