    Off leash fun

My dog had a blast roaming off leash and exploring the woods at her own pace. I wish there were more off leash friendly hikes in the area, but this was worth the drive. The trails aren’t very long or spectacular, but watching my dog have fun was the main event. We met so many friendly and well behaved dogs on our hike. The trails are a good distance from any roads which is an added layer of security. I highly recommend to anyone with a dog friendly pooch with solid recall skills.

Great Park, Dog Friendly And Clean

The park has a small man made lake near the parking lot next to the rest rooms. It’s a dog friendly park and you can complete a hike in 1 1/2 hours with different paths to choose from according to difficulty and length of hike. The park is located near upper Bronx and close to the city but far enough to be in a forest.
We love this park and it’s close to lots of shopping. However I would bring water for everyone. We usually bring lunch with us so we can have a picnic with our pup.

    Great Park

A nice, easy hiking loop with some short incline. Parking, bathrooms. Very well behaved off-leash dogs!

Nice trail for dogs but beware of ticks

My dog loved running around the trails here and was very happy but when we left and were on the drive home I found 5 ticks crawling in his fur. I removed them and an still on the hunt for more and expect to find additional ones crawling around. I sprayed my dog before we went on the trail but guess that wasnt enough. Be prepared and use all tick precautions and check your dog afterwards!

    My dogs love this park

Town rules dogs can be off leash as long as they are under the command of the owners. The best time to go is Sundays before 10am dogs are allowed off leash anywhere. Other times it is only on the trails which are pretty short. We do a circle that goes almost 2 miles and it take us a little over 45 minutes because the elevation is up to 475 feet at the highest point. You can find the map easily and we stay up on the yellow/red trails. There are a couple small brooks for water and bathrooms for humans. Overall a great place except in the middle of the summer on a weekend.

    Lost of off leash fun!

It was a lot of fun. Absolutely would recommend! Some of the hills are very steep!! Most of the trails are less than a mile. We ended up hiking around and back to stay out longer. Dogs are explicitly allowed off-leash on the trails. The trails are nice and clearly marked with colored markers. There are lots of nice stonewalls around with small streams (of which my water dog found every one to get wet and muddy!). I now have a tired and happy dog. 14/10, can't wait to go back!
