Our labrador loves navigating these trails...almost like a dog slalom.

There are three sections on Billy Goat: A, B, and C. Section C is the only one remotely safe for dogs; the other two sections contain scrambles, cliffs, and the like. Safer and scenic walks are nearby along the canal.

Actually, dogs are officially welcome on parts B and C of the trail. Part A is considered too dangerous with larger rocks and more rock scrambling involved that could be dangerous for dogs. So don't hesitate to bring your dogs on B or C (on a leash or lead of some sort, per park rules)!

My dog loved the hike. She is not a fan of other dogs, but negotiating trail space with other dogs and their owners
was not an issue. - AmandaMore than a year agoBeagle loves hiking!
My beagle LOVES hiking on the B trail of the Billy Goat trails at Great Falls but are not allowed at Trail A...B has awesome rock not climbing per se but climbing in a way. Myself, my husband and 5 year old beagle have a great time hiking there and highly suggest for all with active dogs young and old!

You actually can not take your dog onto the Billy Goat Trail in Great Falls (it's too dangerous) but there are plenty of other trails to take (like Gold Mine Loop) that are fun for fido.
