We took our dog, and camera equipment. We did the upper loops around the lake. The trail was wide and we didn’t have to worry about our dog going into high grass and risking ticks. It was a nice walk for all of us!

The park itself is absolutely amazing but upon arrival, my baby got bit by 3 ticks in the parking lot alone and more additionally on the trail. It's a stunning area- just be cautious before bringing your fur babies!

You can stick to the main upper and lower paths but if you are looking for a more rigorous hike the walking paths will take through more scenic places. We hike into the Rainbow Falls we had some challenging ascents and descents and it was gorgeous!

A relaxing hike around the lake w 10 year old twins and the pup
- AprilJul 5, 2018fabulous, easy hike
Walking around the lake was lovely. It was a smooth path to follow, and there were numerous places for Galaxy (my dog) to wade into the water (my profile photo is from this hike!) We then moved to the lower parking lot and visited Awosting Falls -- again, swam with the pooch by the waterfall! Beautiful. Easy to go back to the car for supplies, then back to the lake. Bring a picnic lunch, a lot of water and you're good to go.
