    Donner Memorial State Park

    Donner Memorial State Park is one of the most pet-friendly state parks in California. Located in Sierra Nevada in Truckee, CA, you and Fido will discover camping, picnicking, boating, fishing, water-skiing, and hiking at this state park. Although pets aren't allowed on all of the trails, like most state parks in California, they are permitted to join you in the water, on paved roads, and in camping and picnic areas. Keep an eye out for the dog entrance signs for an easy access to the lake for you and Fido. Dogs are allowed on the Lakeside Interpretive Trail, Zig Zag Trail, fire roads, and along the shore of Donner Lake except for China Cove Beach. Dogs are not allowed in the visitor center, on the half-mile Nature Trail, or China Cove Beach, nor can they be on designated ski trails when snow is present. Visit Website

      We keep going back!

      Friendly staff, friendly people, very dog friendly! Easy to launch your kayak just about anywhere, lots of parking, plenty of bathrooms, private beach spots everywhere, swimming & hiking opportunities all over. Haven't been camping here yet but it looks nice. Doggie approved!

      Best Camp Spot For Dogs

      I’m so used to being severely limited when camping with my dogs- this place was great. Dogs were everywhere! They have great beach access and picnic spots along the water. We walked over from camp and posted up all day next to the water. Definitely recommend!

      Beautifully maintained State Park with easy access to the lake

      Enjoy walking along the shore of the lake on a crushed gravel trail. There are lots of little sandy coves for easy access to the lake for swimming, float toys, kayaks and your dog. There are lots of picnic tables all along the trail/lakeside. Restrooms are also available.

      Beautiful place to enjoy with your furry baby

      This park is wonderful either for a day or even for camping!
      They have some specific areas for your furry baby to swim, also there is plenty of picnic tables with barbecue grill included.
      Plenty of parking and restrooms and the entrance is $10 per car for a day visit!

      The Best Of Donner Lake

      Both regulars and tourists share and enjoy this amazing tract with their pups. Bountiful groomed waterfront trails await you and your furry friends. Restrooms and picnic facilities are conveniently placed along the paths and parking is easy. $10 day use permit can be purchased at the gate from the incredibly friendly park rangers.
