Nehantic State Forest
Leashed pets are welcome at the dog-friendly Nehantic State Forest in East Lyme, CT. This was the first state park in New London County and is home to wooded areas, Norwich Pond, and Uncas Lake. You and Fido can relax next to the water at one of the picnic areas.

It's secluded, although vehicles come down the dirt road. You can let your dog off leash if no one is around, although I recommend leashing up if you come across other dogs. Coyotes and bears in the area. I've seen the scat and heard stories, but haven't seen them yet.
